Again, taking example from others and posting a list of fills so far...

For [livejournal.com profile] clarity159: The one in which Dean and Cas help Sam and Perry cope with an overenthusiastic Fourth of July display.

For [livejournal.com profile] de_nugis: The Fusion 'verse story in which they get Millie the cat.

For [livejournal.com profile] killabeez: The time Sam came to his big brother's defense when he was a teenager and some asshole was bad-mouthing him.

For [livejournal.com profile] azziria: The one in which Danny inexplicably craves licorice, because I misread the name in the prompt like a doofus...

For [livejournal.com profile] claudiapriscus: The one in which Phil Coulson is really glad that Pepper Potts has never decided to embrace a life of crime.

For [livejournal.com profile] quickreaver: The one in which the Winchesters meet the Hawaii Five-0 team and Sam is inexplicably intimidated by a man two feet shorter than him.

For [livejournal.com profile] ferrous_wheeler: The Fusion 'verse one in which Sam overhears Dean worrying about money and takes it personally.

For [livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte: The one in which they go to visit Bobby one summer and Sammy really wants to keep Bobby's dog, so Dean tries to think up elaborate ways to steal it (even though he thinks dogs suck).

For [livejournal.com profile] blackrabbit42: The one in which the boys spike a watermelon and spend a day with their feet in the river getting drunk on a rare day off.

For [livejournal.com profile] morganoconner: The one in which Sheriff Stilinski sees a werewolf for the first time.

For [livejournal.com profile] gidgetgal9: The Fusion 'verse story in which Sam accidentally drops a bunch of very expensive pills in the toilet and it ends up being okay anyway.

Shamelessly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] de_nugis.

Tell me about a story I haven't written, and I will give you 1-3 sentences (or more) from or about it.

I haven't been writing much (apart from my summergen, which keeps getting longer on me and is giving me terrible trouble and I am worried my recipient will hate it and oh God... anyway), so this feels like a fun way to get back into the swing of things.

All my fandoms are fair game. That's Supernatural, H50, Leverage, White Collar, Avengers (and all related Marvel movies that I've seen), and if you know I watch a TV show but haven't written anything for it yet and feel like taking a chance, you should go for it. (Ones that spring to mind are Person of Interest and Teen Wolf, among others.)
ratherastory: (Default)
This is a non-fandom post. I stole it from a friend of mine in a different place, because I think this is where the power of fandom can be harnessed for good. I've been feeling a little out of place and useless in the world lately, and this seems like a good way to get rid of that feeling.

Feel free to link this around, too, if you'd like. The more people see this, the more likely everyone will have a chance at getting what they need.

ETA: You don't have to be my LJ friend to participate. In fact, I highly encourage you to participate no matter what! Go ahead and ask for something. You never know what people might be able to provide.

What do you need? (Copied from a DW friend, so not in American, but you can Google translate. I like how it reads.)

(We can solve our own problems and help each other. Here's a spot to do so. Leaving it open...Non friends comments screened by default but I'll release them as soon as I see them.)

What do you need? Not what do you want? A million pounds, a fairy godmother, a nicer car.

But what do you need? A friend in Spain. Or Norfolk. A car that works, to get your kids to school. An old and unloved mp3 player that has been chewed by a cat but still works. A loan of fifty quid, for a week. Someone to trade emails with. People to visit your online shop. A hand-made card to make you feel loved. More friends on your journal. A copy of the Oxford English Dictionary, not too old. Advice on doing your own taxes. A loving but firm kick up the bum to get on with that project. Someone to talk lampwork / knitting / martial arts with. Clients to photograph in return for train fare or lunch. Help with your vet or medical bills, a dollar at a time. A used wheelchair. An unwanted bookcase. Reviews on Amazon. A cat-sitter. Reassurance because you're getting married / having a baby / getting your first job / struggling in college and need a pep-talk.

Sound off. Send people here.

ALSO? GO AHEAD AND FRIEND SOME FOLKS. Might as well frenzy a little bit too. Pleased to meet you.

It's going around my flist, who am I to resist?

First TV show I had self-insertion fantasies about:
Star Trek: TOS (yes, I am just that original, although I mostly wanted to be Spock). Simultaneously with this TV series I have never been able to find since then, called "Black Beauty" which had nothing to do with the book but was instead about a British doctor who lived on a farm with his son and daughter and had a horse named Black Beauty.

First fandom in which I interacted (online and in person) with other fans:
You know, I wasn't really part of the Harry Potter fandom per se, but I have a lot of friends in the fandom, so I think that counts.
Otherwise, it's SPN all the way.

Pairing in the first slash fanfiction I read:
I do believe someone linked me to some Harry/Draco, back in the day. Couldn't swear to it, though. Otherwise, I think it was Jon/Robb in George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" back when the third book had just come out.

First RPS/RPF I read:
Definitely SPN RPS/RPF, though I honestly don't remember which one was the first. I kind of read a whole ton of it all at once when I first discovered it. I suspect it may have been something by [livejournal.com profile] embroiderama.

First fanfiction I read that made me think, 'YES, this is exactly the kind of fanfiction I'd like to write...':
Reading [livejournal.com profile] curtana's Firefly fanfiction, actually. She's a great, if oft overlooked writer. She writes in small fandoms and isn't all that prolific outside her original stuff, but I would love to be able to write like her.

Pairing in the first fanfiction I wrote:
I wrote gen for the loooongest time. I think the actual first pairing I wrote was Dean/Cas.

First OTP:
I was never part of the fandom, but I have to say Mulder/Scully. Otherwise, I am a SHAMELESS multishipper.

First RPS/F OTP:
See above: multishipper.

First fannish friend I met in person:
Not counting the people I already knew? I think it's [livejournal.com profile] sinnerforhire by a margin of about one hour. Then I met [livejournal.com profile] peppervl and [livejournal.com profile] elsewhere_kels in the same day. Wild times at L.A. Con. :D

First character I formally roleplayed:
I've been a roleplayer for 13 years, but I don't think that's what this question is about, yes? The question isn't talking about D&D or White Wolf, or any of the other characters I created for my table top games, I'm assuming. The first 'canon' character I roleplayed was Charlie Weasley, and then Bill Weasley almost immediately after/simultaneously, back in the days when [livejournal.com profile] reparo was active. We had great times then, and occasionally I miss the camaraderie. I still have one friend I keep in touch with from that RP.

Stolen from my entire flist and then some:

Post the first sentence (or three) from every WIP you're currently working on, even if it's very short. Then invite people to ask questions about your WIPs. With any luck, the motivation to take that WIP one step closer to completion will appear as if by magic!

This actually seems decently accurate. I'm a well-socialized geek for the most part.

If I made Cinderella, the audience would immediately
be looking for a body in the coach. —Alfred Hitchcock

When I write a story, what do readers immediately look for?

(I have a feeling I know what most of the answers will be, but I am curious to see if I am right.)

I did it 'cause I saw [livejournal.com profile] harrigan do it and I thought it looked fun. Here's how to play:

Comment to this post with "THE VERY NERVE!" (that's all you need do to start, seriously!) and then:

  • I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.

  • You update your journal with the answers to the questions.

  • You can include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions (but only if you want to).

Questions from harrigan and my answers. I am long-winded, apparently. )

Still riding the post-con high, so I will do this little meme so the love can keep on going forever! :)

THE ANON OR NOT LOVE MEME

Clicky to get to the thread I totally selfishly started for myself. :)

I haven't done a meme in a while, and maybe this will inspire me to write again:

Pick one of my fics, and I'll give you a detail that didn't make it into the fic. Background canon, deleted scenes, or a look into the future. My choice, but if you have a specific question you can ask it in your request.
