ratherastory: (Morally Ambiguous)

I figured out the reason for my glee...

6.07 spoilers behind the cut.

So the past couple of episodes, despite being all flaily and OH GOD SAM THAT IS CREEPY! I have actually been kind of digging Soulless!Sam, and his honestly baffled reactions to Dean.

Last night especially.

When Dean tied him up, not only did he manage to maintain the puppy eyes, he was truly perplexed about why Dean was so upset.

I paraphrase. "Yeah, I get it, it's bad. Seriously, can we move on now?"

And at the end of the episode.

Grampa: "You got two choices: put a bullet in your grandfather or step aside."

Sam: *pulls his gun*

Dean: *jumps in to stop him*

I was all perplexed myself about how much it made me chortle, and THEN I realized.

He reminds me of Dexter Morgan.

Sam is basically a sociopath with a moral code. *bounces*

OH, SPN, NEVER CHANGE! *hugs the show*

Huh. I haven't seen Dexter, but I get it!

I love Dexter. He's eminently likable, even if he doesn't understand the vast majority of human emotions. He gets that emotions exist, even has a few of his own, but mostly he just parrots what he sees in an effort to blend in. He knows the difference between right and wrong, but he relies on others to set his compass for him, because he just can't see the shades of grey they can.

Oooh, good thoughts!
And I agree!

Yeah, I love that too. He's so innocent yet so dangerous. :) And Dean is his moral compass. &hearts &hearts

I realized at some point--I think it was the scene with the prostitute in 6x03--that watching Sam is like watching Dexter without the voiceovers explaining everything and giving the viewer something to attach to. It's jarring, but I'm enjoying it.

He is! He's totally Dexter now. All we need is a first-person voice over.

[identity profile] claudiapriscus.livejournal.com 2010-11-06 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I had the same thought. Maybe not with the prostitute, but in another one of those Something Is Not Right With Sam moments.

I'm sorry, but when Sam was all *shrugs off ropes* Yeah, uh - you can't hold me, I was like *TAKES COLD SHOWER OMG*

\o/

I'm cool with it as long as it will eventually get fixed. Now that we have a gameplan, I say we should enjoy soulless Sam while we can. Jared is playing him brilliantly - I love how the difference is even MORE obvious now that Sam has dropped the act. Hgnh.

I love Dexter. And Sam. Yes. Not getting how or why people do what they do. Now that things are less murky, I'm a lot happier with this whole thing.

Interesting to compare Sam to Dexter. I like it. I'm enjoying souless Sam also. I loved his pulling the gun on Samueal - perfect!

He reminds me of Dexter Morgan. True. Except Sam has WAY better hair ;P
Plus
This is ridiculously perceptive of you.

Now I want to watch this Dexter show.

And yeah. This version of Sam is rather likeable.... except when he's not. :p

Yay! \o/

OMG. I love this!

PS: I totally loved that he drew down on Gramps without a second of hesitation. *giggle* I mean, I get that Samuel may have some really good motive that I just don't know yet (I mean, most of the main characters have good reason to sell their souls...) but this still made me smile like an idiot.

*grin*
