ratherastory: (Writing is Hard!)

Fic Meme, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] tahirire

December 2010 meme : Word count - 510,000 (give or take)

And now the meme:

My favorite story this year (of my own):

I am one of those people who gets stupidly attached to her own writing, which I don't think is a bad thing. I think it might well be Take Me Home, even if it's not the best, quality-wise. I have a real soft spot for doggy!Sam and all the OCs in the story.

My best story this year:

Probably my Big Bang, Nihil Inherit. It pretty much qualifies as an epic, and I am very proud of the way I managed to juggle about a dozen various canon-compliant and non-canon-compliant plot threads without dropping any balls.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:

And of Things That Will Bite. I honestly don't know why so few people seem to have read this story. It's a straight-up gen casefic, complete with beautiful illustrations and a bonus side-order of whumped!Sam. I thought, if I do say so myself, that it was pretty tightly-paced, well-thought-out, and a fun look back at the early seasons boys. *shrug* I got nothin'.

Most fun story:

Stonedhenge: aka My Title is a Really Bad Pun. Pure, unadulterated crack, but it was SO much fun to write!

Most suspenseful story:

This one's a toss-up, I think. I wrote a few pretty tense stories this year. The horror stuff especially.

Story with single sexiest moment:

Pretty sure that's We Will Not Regret the Past, which is Sam/Lindsay, and the first time I wrote explicit sex.

Story with single sweetest moment:

Hands down The Bird that Feels the Light which has so many wee!Dean & Cas moments that it's pretty much designed to make your teeth rot in your head.

Most unintentionally *telling* story:

Telling about what? I dunno. A LOT of my stories reveal that I am a shameless h/c whore, but we knew that already. I guess someone else will have to point out what I'm not seeing here. Feel free!

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story:

Heh. Better Than Autodidacticism which somehow managed to be both gross and weirdly sexy at the same time, mostly. But still. Kind of wrong. Messy colds are not supposed to be sexy. ;)

Most disappointing story:

Chicken Soup for the Hunter's Soul. This was for a fic exchange, and I am really sad that I wasn't able to do something better for my prompter. It's not a bad story, but it's definitely not my best work.

Hardest story to write:

Privilege of Choice, which, while it turned out really well, was a nightmare to write, because I have so much trouble getting into John's head. It was like beating my head against a very stubborn brick wall.

Easiest story to write:

Again, hands down, Take Me Home. I wrote the first 17,000 words of that story in about a day and a half, and just kept going until the story was finished. I had a bit of a fight with the last few chapters, but once I figured out some characterization stuff, it went really well.

This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most:

This year's theme was, it seems, "[livejournal.com profile] ratherastory is obsessed with Supernatural." There was no overarching theme to the fic itself, except perhaps the bonds of family, which is the theme of the show itself. As such, all and none of my stories demonstrate the theme pretty nicely.
