Yup, this. Thoroughly enjoyed everything except the terrible, terrible subplot. Bad characterization, bad writing, bad everything, but it was the subplot that undermined everything else. The rest of the story still stands, and so I will keep watching in the hopes that they don't resolve it in a way that makes me want to tear out my hair.
