I didn't expect the ending either, to be honest. I was going to write it... well, not happy, exactly, but I certainly didn't plan to kill off Past!Dean when I started out. Then as I wrote it, I realized it wouldn't work any other way.

I don't usually like reading death!fics, either. Meh.
