I do like Castiel in the context of the current plot, but part of me keeps wanting to drag him away (STOP TAKING SAMMY'S PLACE IN DEAN'S LIFE!) and make him go find God already. ;)
I know what you mean about trying to top the apocalypse. Personally, I'm hoping for them to bring it back down to a much more intimate level: apocalypse averted, but one of the boys comes out of it really broken, and the season focuses on fixing that (much like Season 3 focused on getting rid of Dean's deal, even if it failed), and helps them rebuild the relationship that got all mangled in Season 4.
