I hate it when this happens, but I have come to the conclusion that I have to chuck the current Fusion story. It's not working at all. I have some different ideas, which will require fast-forwarding the timeline a bit. It's not all bad, but it makes me wish I had given up before having 10,000 words' worth of a fic attempt. Feh.

It's not the first time and certainly not the last that I'll end up chucking thousands of words' worth of fic. I estimate I have at least 75K of words that will never see the light of day. It is what it is.

In other news, there is a pretty big snowstorm outside, the first of the year for us. I'm hoping for a quiet night during which I might be able to get some writing done. I have a high seas AU to write before December 18th, after all.

Awwww... I'm sorry. I hate it when that happens too. Although I usually scrap fics that aren't working for me after about 2K. Mostly because my longest fic is 5K...

I'm definitely going to salvage the OC. It's just that the scene/thing I had in mind doesn't have a proper... goal, I guess is the best word. It's just not going anywhere. Better to scrap it and start over at this point.

Oh noes! I've been watching hopefully every day for a new Fusion fic. I'm so sorry it's fighting you so hard, but at the same time, the one that gets finished will be the better for it. :)

nwspaprtaxis is right, though. I've had scraps sitting around for months that suddenly found new life in the bowels on a totally different fic. Good writing always fits somewhere eventually.

I understand that you don't want to let a story go unless you're totally happy with it, but I'm bummed that you're not happy with a 10,000 word Fusion 'Verse story. I'm sure I and other Fusion fans would love it, even if you don't.

It's not that I'm not happy with it, it's that it has no structure and no real ending. Mostly it's just not very good. I'm hoping to salvage a part of it for a different story later on. :)

Yeah, I've got three stories so far that are doing the same thing to me. Even without the structure or ending, I'm certainly disappointed that I won't get to read it in the entirety. With good writers, my motto has always been the longer, the better.

Sucks that you had to scrap so many words. I've got the same thing going on. I know where I want to go but it just not rolling. Working on attempt 3 for what I thought would be the easiest bit of my little story. It's frustrating as hell.
I'm glad it's Fusion you are working on though. It'll be worth waiting for though.

Keep it around. You may find that you're able to cannibalize bits of it for later use. Of course, it doesn't suck any less right now, this I know and know very well. *pets*

On the plus side, if I do my time-jump thing now, that will actually bring us closer to Dean's getting a service dog!

This sort of thing only happens when a writer really cares about the integrity of their work - at the same time, you really care, so it's hard to dump something!

Aw no :( It happens, honey. I just did a wordcount and I have 12,000 words of outtakes from the next chapter of the drive 'verse... scenes that don't work, sentences that don't work, stuff that just doesn't WORK. And still it's not working, grrrrrrrr, WHY?? I feel for ya.
