But not everyone would say a canonically gay character picking up someone of the same sex in a bar is slash. It's such a personal perspective kind of thing. For me, anything canonical is gen...though everything gen is not necessarily canonical. So non-explicit focused stories that mention or briefly involve pairings that are canonically in character? Totally gen in my book, regardless of the sexual orientation of the characters. But I know miles vary on that one.
