It's true -- Dean looks insanely YOUNG. I mean... no offense to the guys, but here they're just fresh-faced and kind of innocent-looking. Sam's a total baby-face for me. But Dean has this innocence or at least he isn't world-weary. *pets them both* God, I wish they could've stayed like this.... OH EARLY-SEASON BOYS!!!
And looking at this pic, I don't think JA broke his nose yet... or hadn't broken it the second time. It's really obvious in S2/S3-ish (and beyond) that he broke his nose at least twice. (I can tell if guys broke their nose really well because my brother broke his 2-3 times and know where to look for the bump -- but it's all good because it makes Dean that much sexier for me)
No idea... but if you look at really really early pics of JA (like from Dark Angel) and compare it to SPN, it's super obvious he broke his nose at one time. I mean, I don't know for sure and I haven't read it anywhere but it's just an observation I've made. It's kind of hard to tell in S1 but if you compare stills to older pics of him, especially at certain angles, he definitely has the telltale bump right at the bridge. By S3/S4/S5 it's definitely looks a bit more prominent. Not sure if it's because of age or if he broke it again at some point...
It is very addictive. Then again, Big Bangs are always in need of good artists, so I encourage you lots and LOTS to sign up!
On a random-but-slightly-related note, are you interested only in doing art for challenges, or are you interested in maybe illustrating fics just for the love of it?
Interesting you should ask this! I've done lots of illustrations for this, that and the other thing (collectable card games, digital book covers, yadda) and I've reached a point where I just want to jump in and do some indulgent, ultra-fun fanart...and that includes (but is not limited to) All Things Supernatural.
So short story long, yeah I'd be interested in illustrating fics for the love of it! Especially if I get to 'art direct', with only minor critique from the author. And I'm always up for challenges; community participation and exchange of ideas are juicy ways to expand one's horizons and find muses. What sort of challenges did you have in mind?
Wait...you meant Big Bang challenges, didn't you? (derp derp) Nah, that's not my only interest. I might be picky about which illustration projects I choose (based on sheer lack of time!) but i'm totally game.
Actually, I'm looking for a victim willing artist who might be interested in running a sort of Fic Looking for Art and Art Looking for Fic community.
Basically there would be a screened post once a month in which authors and artists could comment with their work, which I would then repost in two BIG recap posts: one for fic and one for art.
Then artists could look at the fic summaries and writers could look at the art prompts, and AWESOMENESS WOULD ENSUE!
The thing is, I suspect that, unlike my other comm, this one would be super work-intensive, so I'd really need a co-mod, and since I'm a writer I'd love to have the co-mod be an artist.
Ah, I see! I'm brand spankin' new to LJ so it might take some hand-holding to get me up to speed in using the site correctly, especially since I tend to have a love/hate relationship with the internet. But it does sound interesting. I'm willing pitch in! Would the comm focus on fandom, personal projects, all of the above?
Hand-holding I can do. LJ is pretty simple to use once you know how. I just *suck* at the visual side of it. It's really sad how little artistic talent I have...
I was thinking of a fandom comm, though whether to make it SPN-only is still up in the air. SPN is a huge fandom, and I'm not sure that making it multi-fandom wouldn't make the comm far too huge and unwieldy.
It would basically be like a bastardized version of the Big Bang and Reverse Big Bang, only without those pesky deadlines. Our work would be collating lists of summaries and art and posting them, and making sure that when someone signs up to do art for a fic or write a fic for art, that they come through in the end, and to ensure that proper communication takes place between participants. Fandom tends to be a little flakey when it comes to that sort of thing, after all. ;)
Being new to the whole fandom thing, I'll leave that decision totally up to you! You could always start with SPN, but add in other shows as time goes on and it seems workable. Making purdy pictures is my strength. I tend to be more effective in support roles, leaving the Big Thinking up to those with the brains. ;)
But I can do grunt work with the best of 'em! Just let me know what you decide, and I'll jump on board.
Can you PM me your email address? We can continue this that way. Or, better still, if you have Yahoo!Messenger or Gmail chat, we can talk there! When I'm not at work, because work blocks about 90% of my social networking. I can't even look at my LJ friends page. It's weird.
My email addy is alizarin_griffin@yahoo.com and I usually use AIM when I have to chat up somebody (which isn't often because then I get NOTHING else done!), but I can install either Messenger or Gmail chat as needed. Pick your poison!
Sorry I wasn't around last night; I wasn't feeling up to snuff and crashed early, but I'll try again this evening. I'll install Y!M and let you know my user name when I figure it out!
I hear you on the brutal work week. Don't they know we have serious hobbies to cultivate?? Anywho, I installed Y!Messenger. Look for 'alizarin_griffin'. I'll try to be around in the evenings.

And that image is gorgeous. Wow... Sam was such a baby-face.

This is exciting!
Also, if I had to pick, Y!M is your best bet. I have something like AIM (iCHat) but it's unreliable.
