Check it out!

It's happening after all!

SPN Gen Big Bang

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! *does happy dance*

And that image is gorgeous. Wow... Sam was such a baby-face.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! Dean too! Oh, early-season boys, how I miss you!

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's true -- Dean looks insanely YOUNG. I mean... no offense to the guys, but here they're just fresh-faced and kind of innocent-looking. Sam's a total baby-face for me. But Dean has this innocence or at least he isn't world-weary. *pets them both* God, I wish they could've stayed like this.... OH EARLY-SEASON BOYS!!!

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
And looking at this pic, I don't think JA broke his nose yet... or hadn't broken it the second time. It's really obvious in S2/S3-ish (and beyond) that he broke his nose at least twice. (I can tell if guys broke their nose really well because my brother broke his 2-3 times and know where to look for the bump -- but it's all good because it makes Dean that much sexier for me)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
He broke his nose? Damn, poor guy. When did he do that?

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No idea... but if you look at really really early pics of JA (like from Dark Angel) and compare it to SPN, it's super obvious he broke his nose at one time. I mean, I don't know for sure and I haven't read it anywhere but it's just an observation I've made. It's kind of hard to tell in S1 but if you compare stills to older pics of him, especially at certain angles, he definitely has the telltale bump right at the bridge. By S3/S4/S5 it's definitely looks a bit more prominent. Not sure if it's because of age or if he broke it again at some point...

Darn, wish I'd seen that a few hours earlier. Probably would have signed up for that one instead.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you sign up for the regular BB, then?

[identity profile] greeneyes-fan.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I did. {shivers in horror}

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You could drop out of the J2 and join this party instead.... :)

[identity profile] greeneyes-fan.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll see what happens, I might just utterly fail at writing altogether.

[identity profile] claudiapriscus.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
This one starts posting in September, so they're not entirely competing :)

[identity profile] jesseofthenorth.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
My first (and potentially only) BB! \o/ !

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
ditto! \o/

*squee!* There are SO many authors I'd lurv to illustrate. I could get addicted to Big Bangin'. (Okay, that didn't quite come out right...) :D

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
It is very addictive. Then again, Big Bangs are always in need of good artists, so I encourage you lots and LOTS to sign up!

On a random-but-slightly-related note, are you interested only in doing art for challenges, or are you interested in maybe illustrating fics just for the love of it?

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting you should ask this! I've done lots of illustrations for this, that and the other thing (collectable card games, digital book covers, yadda) and I've reached a point where I just want to jump in and do some indulgent, ultra-fun fanart...and that includes (but is not limited to) All Things Supernatural.

So short story long, yeah I'd be interested in illustrating fics for the love of it! Especially if I get to 'art direct', with only minor critique from the author. And I'm always up for challenges; community participation and exchange of ideas are juicy ways to expand one's horizons and find muses. What sort of challenges did you have in mind?

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Wait...you meant Big Bang challenges, didn't you? (derp derp) Nah, that's not my only interest. I might be picky about which illustration projects I choose (based on sheer lack of time!) but i'm totally game.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
No, that's not what I meant at all! See my other comment. :)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I'm looking for a victim willing artist who might be interested in running a sort of Fic Looking for Art and Art Looking for Fic community.

Basically there would be a screened post once a month in which authors and artists could comment with their work, which I would then repost in two BIG recap posts: one for fic and one for art.

Then artists could look at the fic summaries and writers could look at the art prompts, and AWESOMENESS WOULD ENSUE!

The thing is, I suspect that, unlike my other comm, this one would be super work-intensive, so I'd really need a co-mod, and since I'm a writer I'd love to have the co-mod be an artist.

What do you think?

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see! I'm brand spankin' new to LJ so it might take some hand-holding to get me up to speed in using the site correctly, especially since I tend to have a love/hate relationship with the internet. But it does sound interesting. I'm willing pitch in! Would the comm focus on fandom, personal projects, all of the above?

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Hand-holding I can do. LJ is pretty simple to use once you know how. I just *suck* at the visual side of it. It's really sad how little artistic talent I have...

I was thinking of a fandom comm, though whether to make it SPN-only is still up in the air. SPN is a huge fandom, and I'm not sure that making it multi-fandom wouldn't make the comm far too huge and unwieldy.

It would basically be like a bastardized version of the Big Bang and Reverse Big Bang, only without those pesky deadlines. Our work would be collating lists of summaries and art and posting them, and making sure that when someone signs up to do art for a fic or write a fic for art, that they come through in the end, and to ensure that proper communication takes place between participants. Fandom tends to be a little flakey when it comes to that sort of thing, after all. ;)

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Being new to the whole fandom thing, I'll leave that decision totally up to you! You could always start with SPN, but add in other shows as time goes on and it seems workable. Making purdy pictures is my strength. I tend to be more effective in support roles, leaving the Big Thinking up to those with the brains. ;)

But I can do grunt work with the best of 'em! Just let me know what you decide, and I'll jump on board.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent!

Can you PM me your email address? We can continue this that way. Or, better still, if you have Yahoo!Messenger or Gmail chat, we can talk there! When I'm not at work, because work blocks about 90% of my social networking. I can't even look at my LJ friends page. It's weird.

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
My email addy is alizarin_griffin@yahoo.com and I usually use AIM when I have to chat up somebody (which isn't often because then I get NOTHING else done!), but I can install either Messenger or Gmail chat as needed. Pick your poison!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome. I got home too late to do anything about it last night (worked a 16-hour shift, bleh), but I'll try to ping you when I'm home tonight.

This is exciting!

Also, if I had to pick, Y!M is your best bet. I have something like AIM (iCHat) but it's unreliable.

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2011-01-19 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry I wasn't around last night; I wasn't feeling up to snuff and crashed early, but I'll try again this evening. I'll install Y!M and let you know my user name when I figure it out!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-19 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
No worries. I wasn't around much either. Work was brutal this week. :)

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
I hear you on the brutal work week. Don't they know we have serious hobbies to cultivate?? Anywho, I installed Y!Messenger. Look for 'alizarin_griffin'. I'll try to be around in the evenings.
