In which ratherastory lets go of the crazy

Okay.

My muse is being finicky. This hasn't happened in a while, but let's just say the writing has slowed down some. As a result, I've had to make a few really hard decisions about fic commitments.

I'm going to drop out of a few of the Big Bangs I signed up for. I'm still going to write the stories I wanted to write for them, but I'll be writing them at a less frantic pace than would be required to get them all done for the deadline. I think that the quality of the work will be the better for it, and I'll be less stressed out. None of the deadlines have passed yet, so I'm not screwing over any artists, which is a good thing.

So I'm going to stick with two Big Bangs. The infamous spn_j2_bigbang, due May 1st, and the h50_bigbang, due May 15th.

This means I can concentrate on my J2 Big Bang for now, which is shaping up to be a bit of a monster. My H50 Big Bang is going to be a fun, roughly 20k romp into a complete AU, and should be relatively easy to write once I've got it rolling.

I have a couple of charity things to write and two podfics to record, and the rest is all gravy.

*sigh*

I was really hoping I could get all of it done, but work has been kicking my ass lately, and I just haven't been able to write as much as I did in January and Feburary this month.

You should let your ego and your id get off their leashes and play around in the fic park, and not let the stupid superego take charge and ruin their fun. As long as radiation poisoning Sam comes to us at some point, we can await him patiently.

Says the woman who is still wrestling with a birthday fic that is now approaching three months late. Sigh.

Don't feel too bad, I'm still working on birthday fic that's now 5 months late. *facepalms* Maybe I should give just aim to have it finished for THIS year.

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. And as I will continue to tell myself I firmly believe as I worry about being able to get my own work done by deadline, there is no shame in defaulting on a big bang.

if it helps any, I am very relaxed about the arrival of my fic (suffice to say I am still writing a fic I owe someone from 3 years ago, and I am not a hypocrite!).

I totally get having too many deadlines, and have taken a year off deadlined fanfic projects this year, which is kind of working, but I miss bigbangs something awful!

Don't worry honey, you should be having fun when you are writting. So simply go to your own pace and play with your muses! You have been incredibly prolific already, so we are blessed to have so many wonderful stories from you! Just don't force yourself, we will happily wait as long as you need for more of your amazing sammy!whumpage and h/c stuff!!

This is actually making me feel more... normal rather than staring at you and going HOW IN THIS GREEN EARTH SHE IS DOING THIS?! But that said, you come first and RL comes second and writing should be the gravy that makes it all fun. I'm quite sad to see you drop out of the spn_gen_bigbang although if this means you'll still write the fic and produce more Fusion, I'm fine with it.

I hear you on the deadlines -- and yes, I am aware I am freakishly-ridiculously-late on my ohsam stuff (although to be fair, one is a nearly 6K monster and the longest thing I've ever written for fandom thus far) and one auction fic, which is also... erm... late.

So, honey, just have fun, enjoy it, and don't put undue pressure on yourself... except you know, to write more Fusion. ;)

That must have been a hard decision to make, and disappointing to pull out of some challenges - but I'm glad that you'll have less things that stress you out on a deadline level. *hugs* Glad to hear that the Epic J2 seems to be going well!
