Okay, okay, I give up. Seriously.

Real Life has become overly complicated. It's mostly a good complicated, but right now I don't have the mental energy to complete most of the writing I want to do.

So I'm going to drop out of the two remaining Bangs I'm in (Sam/Dean Mini Bang and the Dean/Cas Big Bang). I am giving myself amnesty and I'll just write those stories at my own pace and give them the attention they're due.

I'll stay in the Sassy OTP challenge (my contribution is mostly written) and the Summer of Sam challenge (I have it mostly done as well), since those have no wordcount limitations and thus aren't going to make me stress out unduly.

I am also declaring the rest of 2011 a challenge-free zone for [livejournal.com profile] ratherastory. I'm going to write all the stories I want to write, when I want to write them, and not fuss with deadlines and minimum wordcounts. So there. There is one exception to this rule, a BB I signed up for that's due in November.

Remaining Deadlines

- [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love: A Sam-centered h/c fic exchange. No wordcount limit. Posting starts August 14th, 2011.
- [livejournal.com profile] sassy_otp: A Sam/Cas-centered challenge, no wordcount minimum, posting date of August 14th, 2011. I'm writing a sequel to "After the End."
- [livejournal.com profile] five0bang: Rough draft due November 4th, 40k minimum.

Personal Fic Projects

Look for these in the coming months

- The sequel to Roses in December
- Fusion
- The Angel Pin (the Film Noir AU I'm supposed to write with [livejournal.com profile] rainylemons
- The Project Formerly Known as the Sam/Dean Mini Bang
- The Project Formerly Known as the DCBB
- Ferret!Verse (that's H50, for those of you who are confused)

I also have some original fiction projects that I'm going to be working on, which I'm not including in this list. :)

You may be glad to know I have the plots (mostly) worked out for my Danny-whump story and Eliot-whump story. :-) Although we both know there are no deadlines for any ferret or whumping (or ferret whumping!) STORIES!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
YAY!

I am very, very excited about your stories!

*bounces*

Sounds like you've got quite enough on your plate! As per usual.

Slow down, relax and enjoy the good complications of RL. It'll be good to see your stories whenever you get them finished.

Slow down, relax and enjoy the good complications of RL.

That's the plan, yes. :)

I am excited, and I think the stories will be better for my taking the necessary time to finish them. :)

[identity profile] debbiel66.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so excited by what you've got planned. Go you!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. I'm glad people are still excited even if I don't have planned deadlines anymore. :)

[identity profile] crazybeagle.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Roses In December FTW. I am so excited. You write Jessica incredibly.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
:D

I have been meaning to write this sequel for months, and the challenge deadlines kept getting in the way of that. So I'm treating this as a blessing in disguise. :)

I did the same thing and it feels marvelous. All I have is spn_las which is honestly fairly low stress. But no more challenges this year for me, no more freaking out over deadlines, no more staying up ridiculously late unless I am actually in that glorious groove.

All of your projects fill me with happiness :)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I feel very liberated. :)

I found even spn_las to be kind of stressful, because I never connected with any of the prompts, although it did force me out of my comfort zone a fair bit, which is good.

I am looking forward to staying up late just because I'm in The Zone and never want to stop writing ever again. ;)

[personal profile] sistabro 2011-08-01 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
yeah spn_las is a little stressful for exactly that reason, they are very bland prompts :/ But also, as you said, I've written very different things than I normally would have, so that's good too.

[identity profile] rainylemons.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I give up on challenge-y things for the moment, too. Other than my hoodie_time tag challenge. So, we should pick a day when we're both off and not running around like psychos so that we can work out how to attack Sammyboy in black and white with murder all over. YAY!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, we should. When I have more than two brain cells to rub together I'll send you an email with my days off. :)

I'm excited for so many of these stories, no matter when you get to them. If they cause you less stress by having no deadlines, so much the better. :)

Good luck with all your Real Life things as well as your writing projects, bb!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
:)

I haven't forgotten your collar!fic. It's, um, possibly re-writing itself in my head as Dean/Gabriel. If memory serves that's not a problem for you, right?

[identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm also doing the h50 Nov. Big Bang. I wrote a chapter, had a better idea, and then scrapped it. It's Danny always!female to male genderswap. IDEK.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh! That sounds really cool. I am looking forward to it!

[identity profile] twisting-vine-x.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Good luck with all the real life stuff, and looking forward to whatever stories you come up with, whenever you come up with them. :)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! It's all rather stressful, but if it works out my life will be a lot better all-around. Then hopefully I'll be able to get back to the very srs bsns of writing fanfic. ;)

[identity profile] de-nugis.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
No sense in fandom being an albatross around your neck. There will be just as much for us to read in the end, I wager, and you'll have more fun writing it, than if you stuck to challenges that are meant to inspire you when they are dragging you down instead.

I speak as one with much, ahem, dropout expertise.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Fandom is supposed to be happy fun times, and I think it's time to let myself sit back, relax, and not worry about deadlines for a while.

[identity profile] primrose-1.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Good for you! Write for fun for awhile without the stress of a deadline until you're all settled. Just as long as you keep writing! :)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
I am totally going to keep writing. Just at my own pace and the stories that speak to me at that moment, rather than the ones I feel I *have* to write for a specific challenge. :)

[identity profile] evening-spirit.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Me, I'm glad you're still on with [livejournal.com profile] five0bang.

And YaY for good complicated RL. :)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
I have SUCH a fun plot for it, and it's the kind of story that lends itself really well to illustration. I have plenty of time to write it at a leisurely pace, so I'm sticking with it. Everything else is getting dropped in favour of the writing projects I feel like working on at whatever moment I want. :)

And yes, good complicated RL, with a dash of less-good. Mostly it's good and involves buying a house. :)

[identity profile] sw0rdy.livejournal.com 2011-08-01 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully you've found the decision to drop some of the challenges very liberating and you can just enjoy everything you work on now. I'll be looking forward to all your efforts.

Good luck with the house buying. We've done it twice (the second time being waaay more stressful trying to buy and sell at the same time) but you're right - it's a good kind of stressful too!
