So I've decided that for my own sanity I'm going to unplug for the first two weeks of December. I'm going to go 90% offline from December 3rd to December 18th inclusively. No Twitter, no LJ, with a couple of minor exceptions.

I've been spending way too much time online and not enough time in the "real" world, and my outside life has been suffering for it. So I'm going to detox for a couple of weeks, and hopefully return with a newfound sense of balance between work, life and fandom.

There will be a couple of exceptions to this rule, because I have commitments that I fully intend to honour:

1- I will check my emails once a day in case of "emergencies."
2- I will be keeping up my monitoring of ohsam with regards to the fic challenge
3- I will be posting challenge/exchange fics on my appointed posting dates

Otherwise, that will pretty much be it. I'll be focusing instead on my writing (without distractions), on getting my house in order and on de-neglecting all the lovely folk who live near me in the flesh.

In short, if you feel like you're not hearing from me much in early December, that will be why. :)

Good for you! Everyone needs this, now and again. A reset. I take every Sunday off from the internet, to clean and hang with friends. I'm sure you'll get a ton done! We'll hold down the virtual fort. ;)

Yeah, I think I'm overdue for it. When I get back I'll be cutting back on the number of hours a day I spend online anyway, and try to reserve one day a week to be offline entirely, like you said. The internet is great, but it's all too easy to escape into it and never emerge again.

Lol, good luck! I did something similar this year where I left fandom for a few months. Then Jared got twitter and I was dragged right back in. I still have no life though hehe.

Hey, I'm that crazy person that said they would leave you a comment. I know I'm being completely stupid about this but someone else on my f-list ended up having to change their lj name and lock their journal down because someone found it and tried to make trouble for them at work.

I don't post nearly enough to make it worthwhile for the 37 people who have friended me so I don't expect to be friended, esp with your hiatus coming up but feel free to say hi anyway. And if you look really closely (no, closer...closer...try squinting) you'll see that I have the same cat on both icons. That's Lelia Mouse. She's my cuddle buddy, alarm clock, conversational partner and avatar.

Was this on Twitter? Otherwise, I'm confused. Not the same icon, btw, but sometimes my iPhone shows me older icons for some reason. :)

I totally understand about LJ and the like. This is a fandom-only LJ that is about 99% separate from my real life, and I intend to keep it that way. No need for people at work to know what I write about in my spare time. ;)

People in my real life know I have a LJ, I just don't tell them my name. :)
