Meme!

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] tahirire who picked three of my fandoms. Now I shall answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Hawaii Five-0

1- That is ALL [personal profile] ariadnes_string's fault. She wrote a fic in which Steve had malaria, and I think my malaria kink is well-known, yes? Yes. So I read her story without even knowing the characters, and then went off to watch the show and see what the fuss was about. And then I was hooked.

2- Too soon to tell, but I'm having fun. Season 2 was wobbly but is getting back to what I first loved about the show, and I still have lots of stories I want to tell.

3- Oh, man. I have a soft spot for the pilot, then there's Mana'o, E Malama, Loa Aloha, Ma Ke Kahakai (AIR HEARTS!!!), and let us not forget Ua Hiki Mai Kapalena Pau (respiratory distress, FTW!).

4- Yep. Fanfiction, mostly.

5- The more the merrier! I am inclusive type of fangirl. :D

Leverage

1- I came into Leverage sideways, by way of Supernatural. Don't remember who said what when that prompted me to start watching, but watch I did, and this show makes me SO HAPPY, I can't even tell you.

2- Oh, I'm definitely sticking around. Did I mention it makes me happy?

3- I love all the episodes, but let me see which ones spring immediately to mind: The Wedding Job, The First David Job, The Second David Job... oh, who am I kidding ALL OF SEASON TWO FOREVER, The Reunion Job, The Scheherazade Job, The Big Bang Job, The Experimental Job.

4- I've written some fanfic, but I'm not as active in this fandom as I could be, mostly because the show satisfies most of my emotional needs and thus I don't feel compelled to write fic for it.

5- This fandom is way too small! We need MOAR fans!

Castle

1- I watch the show, but I'm not really part of the fandom. I just like watching. :)

2- Like I said, not really in the fandom.

3- No one episode stands out for me. They're all uniformly enjoyable. I watch for the banter and for Castle's mom. ;)

4- Nope. I am an entirely passive viewer.

5- Sure! All fandoms need more people. :)

Icon Meme!

I am supposed to talk about the following icons:

This was made by the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] iconsbycurtana. In fact, most of my icons are hers. :)

The quote is from Babylon 5, which is, as far as I'm concerned, some of the best-written sci fi ever to appear on television. For all time. Seriously, if you are a fan of sci fi and haven't seen this show you should seek it out and watch all of it. The quote is from my favourite, most tragic character, Londo Mollari, who was attempting to use the expression "nibbled to death by ducks," and got his Earth animals mixed up. :D

It's also singularly à propos for me because, well, I frequently feel as though I am being nibbled to death by cats. ;) I use the icon a lot when discussing my cats or cats in general.

I don't know where this icon comes from. I snagged it from the internet a million years ago. For those of you who don't know, I am French Canadian. I am also a Trekkie, and the Borg are among my favourite sci fi enemies of all time, right up there with the replicators from Stargate: SG-1. This icon hits ALL my buttons, and I love it to death.

Another icon by [livejournal.com profile] iconsbycurtana. It's a simple text one, and the quote is from Ursula K. LeGuin. Need I say more? I use this icon when discussing writing.

Yet another [livejournal.com profile] iconsbycurtana icon. I am a HUGE fan of the show Slings & Arrows, and Anna is my favourite character. Plus, this icon is funny as hell. :D

Last icon by [livejournal.com profile] iconsbycurtana, this time based on the comic genius of [livejournal.com profile] beatonna. It's The Bard, of course, and his work IS goddamned glorious. I use the icon partly tongue-in-cheek as my default, but also as a reminder to myself not to sell myself short, that one of my jobs as a writer is to be confident of what I produce, if only because every time I write something I make the best effort I possibly can.

Haha, yeah, I have noticed that the non-humans are by far the most interesting/well-acted characters.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2012-04-08 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
By a HUGE margin. Lennier is a great character too, when he gets more fleshed-out. The world-building alone in the show is worth the price of admission.

Yeah, I've read about/people have told me about the writing and the world-building and it sounds like everything I would love love love in a science fiction show... I just need to sit down and watch it and not get distracted by other shiny things. ...Maybe what I need is someone to watch it with. Where are all of my geeky college friends when I need them?

I'm happy to do an online rewatch with you if we ever get our schedules to synch up!

[identity profile] zolac-no-miko.livejournal.com 2012-04-08 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I would love to! ...But the schedule synching-up would really be the hard part right now. : |

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2012-04-08 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas. :(

Maybe in a while we'll be able to manage it!

That would be fun! I love long-distance television. ^_^
