30 day hiatus

Some of you may not know that, in an experiment in time-management practices, I am going to go on a 30-day internet hiatus in the month of June.

This means: no web browsers, no Twitter, no social networking of any kind. I will be checking my email once every second day, mostly because my parents are out of town and will likely be writing to me.

If you need to get hold of me urgently for some reason, I will be reachable by phone or text message. Those of you whom I know personally already have this information, for the most part. Feel free to PM me if you think you might need to get in touch with me in June for something that can't wait the 48 hours it'll take me to check my email. I am posting two days early so that people can still PM me before my hiatus starts.

When I come back hopefully I will have written lots and lots, and gotten a ton of other things done too with all the extra time I won't have spent on the internet.

Otherwise, have an awesome month of June, and I will see you on the flip side!

Good luck! I think this is a fabulous idea, one that I wish I had the nerve to tackle. I may do something of an abridged version (since my freelance job requires frequent email-checking.)

I've tried something similar although a much smaller step - I've tried to go off for 2 days at a time - but then I'm always afraid I've missed some piece of fiction that I'll never find again. Consequently I stay up until 1 or 2 in the morning trying to catch up and end up going to work late!

Good on you! however I don't think I could cope with 30 days without the internet. We had a problem over Xmas and that left me with 2 days with no internet and I had to go and pay at an internet cafe - I was missing it that much! LOL
