So, um, yeah...

There has been no fic. There are two reasons for this.

1- I am doing relief work in another province for my job. There is work coming out of my ears, and I've barely had a minute to myself that hasn't involved working or sleeping or getting myself to and from work and bed.

2- I have been writing, but I'm actually writing an original novel. I'm hoping to get the draft done by the end of February, and then get it looked over and sent out ASAP. It's a simple little m/m romance, and I decided to go with my strengths, which is straight-up h/c (respiratory distress, FTW!) with a bit of mystery on the side. It's 22k so far, and I'm pretty excited about it.

It's nice to be writing again, though, after months of drought, and especially exciting to be writing original fiction again after years and years of either not writing or writing only fanfic. I love fanfic, don't get me wrong, but I missed my own characters.

I'll be home in February, and there will be even more work when I get back. Hopefully I'll still be able to write, so that I can keep this momentum going. It's good to be back. :)

Is everyone writing original things lately? It's awesome!

I think fanfic and original both have their pros and cons, like everything and I've learned so much through writing fanfiction, things I'd never have learned through original writing, but like you, I've missed my characters and my 'verses. :)

Wish you all the best. :)

Thank you! I've learned a ton from writing fanfiction, and I will be the last person to ever put it down as a genre. I just missed writing my own stuff, you know? :)

Hot damn, original fic! I see no reason why h/c has to be the sole property of fanfic. Where are you sending it out? Though I'm not an avid M/M reader, I'm an avid ratherastory fan. So, yanno, if you'd like the perspective of an Average Reader, you know where to find me.

Hope all that 'real' *cough* work means some nice bank. I'm glad you've found time to write, regardless.

I'm going to start with Dreamspinner, I think. See if they want it. And if you're interested in the draft, I'm always happy to get outside opinions. :)

As for h/c I figured if Josh Lanyon can write straight-up h/c, then why can't I? ;)

I hope work decides to pay me soon for all this OT. It would be nice. I'm sure it'll be great when it comes in.

Carina has a m/m category too, and as an imprint of Harlequin, it gets GREAT marketing. Not sure if it takes 'new' authors, though. And yes, I'd love to give you my two cents on the story!

Ah, Josh Lanyon. I have a story but I won't air it here. ;)

Yes, there's no point in working OT w/o the OT pay. It'll be tremendous when it comes in!

Oooh! Air your story in email? I am a fan, and he and I and Lynn Flewelling had a really fun exchange on Twitter a few months back. :)

Will do!

Oh good luck!!! I'm also writing original stuff and it is so hard :/

Yay for more writing from you! Fannish and/or original!

I hold dreamspinnerpress in pretty high regard, so I'm glad you're considering them. (I once asked a friend who reads m/m romance for h/c recs and she rec'd Josh Lanyon too! Now I'm curious about the anecdotes too!)

That's awesome about writing original fic! I did that last year, now I have a first draft that needs a lot of work... yay? My original fic ended up being mostly h/c too, there's nothing wrong with that at all in my humble opinion. ;)

I'll be eager to hear how it goes sending it out into the world. I don't think my own draft is good enough to send out, but hopefully one of these days I'll figure out how to fix it so that it's at least good enough to send to my eldest sister for her opinion (she works at Harlequin).

Anyway, no rush on the fanfic, my friend. And I hope the work stops coming out of your ears soon so that you can have a bit more time to yourself. :)

Sorry to not be reading fanfic from you - I miss your stories!! But go you for the original story - that's fantastic news.

Whenever, whatever you write, I'll be happy to see it. :)

Nice to see a post from you, and good luck with your story!

I love your writing. I most particularly love your Fusion verse. With a passion. So I miss it. However, I would be so wrong not to be excited for you and your own original story and the fact that you are writing so joyfully. Wonderful!! I also hope you get some rest eventually. I will be here waiting, ready to read your amazing stories.

Hooray for original fic! You go, girl! Get published, make the National Bestseller list, then travel all over doing book signings!

It's 22k so far, and I'm pretty excited about it.

As you should be! :D Best of luck for the novel. \o/

Sorry work is so very busy, though. :/
