ratherastory: (Is Writing Fanfic)

More wittering about writing

This is me yammering on about the very boring parts of my writing. Number-crunching, basically. It's not really important or interesting for anyone except me. Unless, of course, you like reading about wordcounts and the like.

I think I might take a page out of [livejournal.com profile] paleogymnast's book, and start doing a monthly tally of writing. NaNoWriMo has taught me one thing: I write more, and more reliably, when I am held accountable in some way. Not that this has been a problem since joining the SPN fandom (a quick calculation tells me that between fic that's not published yet, stuff that's been put aside, and the posted stuff, I've actually written about 250,000 words since January 5th), but I don't want to get out of the habit of writing, or stall out halfway through the summer.

So I guess I'll post once a month, on the last day of the month, with very boring statistics that will be interesting only for me, but will at least give me the impression that I'm being held accountable for my output.

In related news, given the amount of fic projects I have for this summer (and my traitorous brain has come up with two other bunnies in the meantime, which I am trying really hard to ignore and it's not working), I think I might actually have to make myself a writing schedule of sorts, to make sure that nothing gets neglected for too long. I'm torn between finding an online calendar for that, or else just going my normal low-tech method and writing it on a paper calendar.

Anyway. That's what's going through my head these days.

In mostly unrelated news, I am still looking for a good Chuck icon that says "Writing is hard!" Oh, and for a 5.04 Cas icon that says "insouciant." I keep thinking of instances when they would come in handy.

I just wanted to let you know I thought of you today, and Sammy. They had Xena, the Belgium Shepard puppy that lives across the street, out playing with her in the yard.

She is just gorgeous, and a huge bundle of zany fun. :)
