Crap.

Someone else is on their third chapter of a Sam-is-in-a-car-accident-at-Stanford fic, and now I'm kind of depressed about it.

I'm sure the fic doesn't have exactly the same plot as "Roses in December," but still.

*mopes*

Please know that there can never... EVER... be too many Sam is in a car accident at Stanford stories. I am completely serious!

I was waiting to read your WIP when it was finished, but now may very well have to peek early.

Hey, I've read about 300 (OK, I'm exaggerating) 5.22 codas with very similar plots, and a lot of them have been remarkable and memorable and I wouldn't have missed one. Isn't one of the things fan fiction does to give us the satisfaction of seeing how many different fascinating takes there can be on the same or similar scenarios?

Anyway, I love "Roses in December" and no way should you be depressed about it.

Don't worry - totally different plot :) There can never be enough stories with limp!sam anyway! Pimp that limp!

Keep going! It's okay.

Yeah, so? :)

Yours is wonderful and you should feel upset because someone else is doing a similar concept. The two stories aren't the same as far as I can tell.

[identity profile] annie200.livejournal.com 2010-05-21 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
There are only so many H/C possibilities but that doesn't devalue yours! This is a great story..keep going.
Look at all the Swan Song Codas and some of those are amazing, although sharing the same basic story!
No wibbling! Admiring fans need an update!

But "Roses" is shaping up to be a really interesting story, and I'm dying to see where you're going to take it, so I hope you don't lose your inspiration because of this. *is selfish* I'll bet it's a very different story, too.

[identity profile] roque-clasique.livejournal.com 2010-05-21 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I have read it, beyond the premise and the characters, it is COMPLETELY different. Seriously. I have written stories that have been done a thousand times over, such is the monster of h/c, but every fic is different and unique and a special snowflake.

I've now read it..totally totally different premise! Get back to that computer..pretty please!

pssst yours is better

Also? You had better still keep working on Roses in December, because I can't stop thinking about it. Specifically, a scene in which he sees Dean by the Impala and all his memories come crashing back to him and then he nearly falls but Dean catches him and he can't stop saying Dean's name or crying but Dean holds him and keeps saying, "I know, I know," and Jessica has to keep back for a few minutes.

...Or, yeah. I know it won't be that easy in your fic, so I'm desperate to see what does happen. *wibbles*

A friend--an oft-published author whose early efforts were a rework of Tolkien--scolded me for not writing when I confessed the fannish roots of my own story. "There.are.no.new.stories. Only stories retold by new people. I want to read your telling. So tell it!"

Also? No moping!

[identity profile] jesseofthenorth.livejournal.com 2010-05-21 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a new premise surely? Good thing for a us you write as well as you do. You'll make it all shiny and new.

[identity profile] pkwench.livejournal.com 2010-05-22 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I didn't prompt that one. :p
