Oh, this was fun!

Writing analysis meme!

This is what I got for my [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen text:

I write like
Raymond Chandler

I Write Like by Mémoires,

I will take that!

The Big Bang came out a little different:

I write like
Chuck Palahniuk

I Write Like by Mémoires,

Random, but okay.

I got all sorts of other results depending on what text I pasted in: Dan Brown, J.K. Rowling, James Joyce... Apparently the meme cannot decide which style I favour. ;)

:::ETA:::

Aww, It's a scam, and it doesn't give any results that aren't white guys, except for three white women. Boo. I've altered the html and hopefully that will avoid boosting the signal for the guy.

People suck. :(

Lol! I tried various pieces to see how consistent this was. I write mostly like Chuck Palahniuk, apparently. Although, James Joyce came up as well.

It just tickles me!

Wow. Writing like Chuck Palahniuk? That's ... kinda odd. He has a VERY weird writing style. VERY weird.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. My BigBang in no way reads like Palahniuk. Oh well.

[identity profile] hansons-angel.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I feel ridiculous even mentioning this but I guess as long as I disclaim the shit out of it and myself in advance:

According to this meme thing, I write like V. Nabokov according to the analysis of my Big Bang.

*aha-ha-ha, lol'ing forever, let me just state for the record that I only wish my writing style was like his.*

But that was fun, I need to go jam some other excerpts in there and see what happens, hee.

Apparently, after posting in my whole Big Bang, I write like Stephen King. Having never read any King (I know, wtf), I'm hoping that's not a bad thing.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
No, King writes well. It's not poetic or anything, but it's dynamic and imaginative.

I like it, anyway. :)

[identity profile] crayola-fics.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, obviously that meme didn't have any "bad" writers in it, but hopefully my writing holds up pretty well like that. I would agree that I'm not terribly poetic, haha.

I'm adding to the surprise that anyone can be compared to Palahniuk. His writing is... unique. Obviously the meme thinks your writing is very versatile, which I'd agree with. :)

After sticking my story's 5 chapters into that meme I got 2 Stephen Kings, 2 Dan Browns, and 1 Kurt Vonnegut. WTF?

Thankee for posting this, it's fun!

I got J.K. Rowling over and over and over and over and over again.

I love HP, that's where I got my start writing fanfiction, but I don't get it. Like... really? I don't see a resemblance.

[identity profile] primrose-1.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
That's very cool. I'm pretty sure if I submitted my stuff, I'd end up with, "You write like Kiki the Kindergartner" :)

[identity profile] tahirire.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
I got the same 2 you got - Chuck on my present-tense, Raymond on my past-tense.

And random Steven King on the only un-horrifying story I've written in ages. LOL.

[identity profile] chiiyo86.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm apparently not very consistent either... It was Stephen King for my big bang (ha!), a couple of Chuck Palahniuk, and Dan Brown, Rowling, Salinger, Margaret Atwood... Huh.

[identity profile] cordelia-gray.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for linking this! It's totally fun. Although it seems a bit random? I got: Dan Brown, Vladimir Nabokov, HP Lovecraft, and JD Salinger. I'm pretty sure that in my wildest dreams I will never write like most of them.

Chandler and Palahniuk are awesome though, and the Chandler I can really see. Honestly I find you way more readable than Palahniuk :)

[identity profile] annj-g80.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I got repeatedly J.D. Salinger and Douglas Adams. What a strange combination O_O.
