Day 13 - A scene that makes you sad/cry

"The only thing you're going to see there is Michael killing your brother."

"Well, then, I ain't gonna let him die alone."

So 5.22 was gut-wrenchingly awful, but that right there marks the point where I started bawling like a calf and never stopped right up until the end of the episode. I'm talking HICCUPS here, people. And then I kept bawling long after the episode was over. (And now I'm crying again. THANKS A LOT, MEME!)

I know some people didn't like it (and I have minor issues with the Sam/Adam Lucifer/Michael showdown), but if you didn't, this is NOT the time to say so. I totally respect your opinion, but this is a happy post. Sort of.

In 5x22, when Dean could barely talk, his face swollen to a bloody mess, and he clutches Sam's arm and says, "It's okay, Sammy, I'm not gonna leave you. . ."

Yeah. Can't even watch it now, it's too sob-inducing.

The fireworks scene? Is my favorite of the ENTIRE series. Dean's face and Colin as young Sam is just -- sheer, unadulterated joy for me.

Pretty Much all of 5.22 made me melt into a sobbing pile of goo. Althoguh the part with "Rock Of Ages" and "Hey Assbutt!" were slightly less-goo-making.

I know Adam!Michael was not 100 percent dramatically satisfying, but I have never understood the longing for Dean!Michael. I mean, I can see wanting to see JA play Michael, because he would have been good, but it isn't remotely something I want for Dean. He was about free will; when he thought about playing his assigned cosmic role it was a moment of despair for him. He always hated the idea of destiny, from way back in s2. He was all about being human and staying human. His place in the mytharc as the guy who said a resounding no to the mytharc was totally cool. To me, Dean not saying Yes to Michael was anything but a slur on the character -- it was the epitome of awesome, kickass, totally himself Dean. I would probably have been cheering him loudly all the way through the episode IF HE HADN'T BEEN MAKING ME SOB LIKE A THREE YEAR OLD WHOSE TEDDY BEAR HAS JUST MET A HORRIBLE FATE.

Bad for the character, certainly. But to me, it would have been satisfying- not because I want it for the character, or even really to see the actor do it, though that would be cool- but because that's what the show seemed to be building to. (Actually, my personal preference would have been Sam to say no while Dean said yes...for a variety of reasons, but what a fantastic reversal of their positions that would have been.)

I cried hardest when Jo and Ellen died, but I agree with the rest- particularly the happy scene. Except the happy scene also makes me cry :)

Heh, the fireworks is what I'd chose for 'made you cry' (or at least, blink furiously and thinking 'not crying, not crying').

Happy scene for me would probably be somewhere in the beginning of "Monster Movie", where they're both just so happy to be alive, together, and on an old fashioned hunt. It's in the small things, but it was nice. Maybe the part after Dean hands Sam the pretzel and he's got this grin as their bantering a bit.

I stay away from anything anti swan song cuz it's becoming one of my all time fave episodes. That scene you described is a perfect example why.
