Day 17 - Your favourite SPN friendship

Yeah, for all that SPN is a buddy show, it's a show that's mostly about family and chosen family. There's not much by way of friendships on the show.

That being said: Dean and Castiel? Hell, yeah. That friendship makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. Dean kind of treats poor Cas like crap, and Cas does his best to keep up. Dean means well, and Cas is constantly frustrated with him, and in the end they stick together.

Their relationship is perfectly summed up in that bit of dialogue from 5.04:

"Are you coming?"

"Of course."

The "of course" makes my heart melt, man. Oh, Cas. ♥

Best thing ever. There was not NEARLY enough Castiel in the last season. (Especially, Castiel with the boys. And even more so, Castiel with Dean.)

I went all frown-y wibbly (because I hate it when shows make me wibble) at the end of "The End" with the whole "we had an appointment" and "Don't ever change". (My thoughts: "Awww. Wait- Damn you show! I will not go 'aww'. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Dammit!")

I'm not a Dean/Castiel shipper at all, but I do love him as a character on the show. The writers have a blast with him, and Misha's delivery of everything deadpan with that intense look of his... perfect.

Exactly. It's the mixture of exasperation and incomprehension that sells it. As though Castiel is constantly thinking "Are we REALLY going to be wasting time on this? Really?"

"I don't understand that reference."

"I don't understand. Why do you want me to say my name?"

"Don't ask stupid questions."

"Okay, if you don't like, uh, 'reckless,' I can use 'insouciant,' maybe."
