Angsty wittering about BigBang, Part 1

This is likely the first of much angst-ridden wringing-of-hands posts about BigBang. Hey, y'all have been reading my Angsty Author's Notes long enough to realize that I am a giant neurotic mess about my writing, right? Right? Well, if you didn't, this is your official notice. ;)

So I'm making a poll. Because I can, and it amuses me. The poll has a three-fold purpose:

1- I noticed everyone and their cousin is making filters for BB, so who am I to resist jumping on the bandwagon? The thing is, filters are annoying and create extra work, so if no one cares I can just as easily shove the BB stuff behind an LJ-cut and put an end to it there.

2- I don't know what to write! (Yes, we're all shocked) The problem is not that I have no ideas, but rather that I have too many half-baked ideas. So I'm trying to make things easier on myself by putting the choice out there and seeing what happens.

3- An information request that has nothing to do with BB, or might end up being really crucial to it, I don't know yet. Humour me.

So, yeah. Here goes! :)

Aboleth- subterranean water monster, Carrion Crawler- paralyzes with tentacles, Cloaker- giant underground manta ray, Darkmantle- hangs on the ceiling and looks like a stalactite, then drops on you, Delver- corrosive slime eats through rock, Destrachan- blind with poweful hearing has a sonic attack that shatters stone, Grick- wormy tentacled thing, Grimlock- blind humanoid goblinlike things, Mimic- shapechanger that can turn into objects, Otyyugh- grotesch refuse-dwelling monster, Phasm- amorphous shape changer, Purple Worm- don't use this, it's silly, Roper- multi-strand rocklike critter, Rust Monster, Skum-underground aquatic critters, Troglodyte, Umber Hulk, not to mention your basic fungus, ooze, jelly, and slime. Some of these, if you try to use them will simply scream Monster Manual, but some you might be able to adapt.

Wow, all I could come up with were Mole Monster and Gollum. Both pretty poor examples of underground dwellers.

LOL

[livejournal.com profile] primrose1 and I both have access to the Monster Manual. I can't believe I didn't think of looking in there myself. :)

See, you've got to play Dungeons and Dragons every Saturday for 20 years.
