I have been felled by illness, which sucks. Haven't done any writing, got sent home from work yesterday (I looked that bad, apparently), and am now behind on my Christmas errands. Mostly I am spending all my time curled up in a ball and praying for a quick death.

So I am going to watch JP's Christmas Cottage movie. I suspect there may be trauma.

Well, that wasn't nearly as bad as I was led to believe it would be. And good Lord, can JP ever turn on the waterworks! It's a talent, man.

Um. It is saccharine and not very good. It does have a lot of knitting porn (dear God, the sweaters and hats and scarves!), and Peter O'Toole acting senile, so. Um. Worth seeing, but not worth paying for it. ;)

Plus, Jared still has his old floppy haircut, which I miss oh-so-much.

The movie is much more awful if you consider what a douche bag Thomas Kinkade is in real life. Like, apparently he dubbed HIMSELF The Painter of Light. Who does that?

I tried to look at it as supporting Jpad's career and an excuse to watch him parade around in so much damned knit. Hats and scarves and *smishes*. He was even wearing a scarf during the big waterworks scene, wasn't he? Dear boy.

PS: I love you for the link to the altered Kinkade pieces. There are a couple in there that I find truly heartwarming in that they manage to convey exactly the way I feel about the mans work.

Now...how to get one of these made up to a full sized image and then to use it to replace the actual Kinkade piece my step-MIL has in her living room.

Damn... I actually liked this movie... Am I the only one? I know it was kind of simplistic and cheesy but it was still nice. And it was good to see Jared doing something different (I want them to film tons of movies!!).

Although I must admit the knitting porn and the puppy eyes were definitely a plus... dear god actually drooled the whole movie! (nd had to rewatch several scenes because I didn't even get what they were talking about, so focused I was on the pretty!!.

No, it's cute. It's terribly, terribly saccharine, so pack a toothbrush. But JP is cute and he cries very nicely toward the end, and there is plenty of knitwear. Don't expect greatness.

It's really not great, but it's not terrible. You just have to ignore the fact that it's based on real people and accept that it's basically a Hallmark Christmas movie. :)
