Dear flist,

Since most of you are Supernatural fans, I appeal to you for help.

Has anyone out there written some really good, preferably long(ish) stuff about the Five Years That Never Happened™? You know, everything that would have happened had Sam and Dean really gone their separate ways, leading up to 5.04 "The End."

pkwench has been fueling my fascination with that episode, and then I wrote a wee ficlet about the day the angels ditched earth (you can blame pkwench for that too), and now I kind of want to know what happened the rest of the time. How Dean went from the Dean we know to a quasi-psychopath, why Sam said "yes" (there's already been one awesome fic about that which I have lost track of and now have to go dig up again), how Castiel went from being an angel to a human barely hanging onto his sanity.

So... suggestions? Recs? Help? Bueller?

I'm not much help there, but if I find some, I'll send them your way! My stories tend to focus on folklore and actual ghost stories (kind of comes with being a storyteller), and are told from an outsider's point of view. One of my goals this year is to try to actually write something from Sam and Dean's point of view.

It's not exactly what you're looking for but roque_clasique and pdragon76 both have cool fics that take place at the camp, and I can't remember but maybe they dropped hints in there as to what happened during those years. I can dig up links if you're interested.

I may be reading one right now. It's a long story and I'm only half way through... but it could be heading that way.

It's called The Road to Detroit is Paved by (or "in" not sure) Hell. I will let you know if it is covering the 5 years. Either way, it's a very good story.

Oh, the one by sandymg, yeah. It's awesome and brilliant, but NOT part of that alternate future. It's a future!fic, but not canon.
