Huh.

The anon meme appears to have died, or at least been deleted.

I am now idly curious as to why that is. Anyone know?

[identity profile] claudiapriscus.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
It collapsed under its own weight into a vortex of doom?

Rumor I heard: somebody posted Jared and Jensen's home addresses. If said rumor's true, I bet it's related to the disappearance of the anon meme. And about time too, since I've also heard rumors regarding posting of contact information for various other Ackleses and Padaleckis.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, ick.

I hope it's not true, if only because I'd like to think the meme was just bitchy and not skeevy like that. :(

No, that was a different comm, and most of that has been deleted/screened. Please note, I'm not DEFENDING it, just saying that's a different comm that's still in existence.

I stand corrected. I still wouldn't be surprised if there was a connection, though.

There is some sort of connection, I think, yes.

All I have is speculation, though, so ~hands~

[identity profile] tahirire.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Idk, but I lol'd. And then sat back with popcorn and watched all the nonnies cry into their ljs. And then lol'd some more.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
If they were anonymous, how did they cry into their LJs? ;)

You're right: I think this calls for popcorn.

[identity profile] tahirire.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
They weren't all so anonymous.

I used a lot of popcorn.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hee!

I only spent a little while there. I kept reminding myself not to look because my delicate flower nerves couldn't handle it. Especially after I stumbled across a thread about how I was damaging the wholesome reputation of the meme with my LJ posts about them. :P

In short, I was never there long enough to recognize anyone.

*invades thread*

Especially after I stumbled across a thread about how I was damaging the wholesome reputation of the meme with my LJ posts about them.

Wait, really? I talked about it all the time! I guess I flew too much under the meme's radar. . . .

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I have NO idea how I got there, except that I complained about the lukewarm reviews I got, and someone (who I'm guessing is on my flist) then lamented that whenever I post something like that everyone comments with stuff that bashes the meme. I didn't read the whole thread, because it was long and, I suspect, probably stopped talking about me early on.

I can't say I feel especially bad about having comments in my personal LJ that aren't praising the meme, quite frankly.

I had no idea people were paying enough attention to my non-fic entries to actually feel wounded by them. Especially not the anon meme, which really ought to have thicker skin than that.

[personal profile] bellatemple 2010-10-19 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
You'd think they'd at least've been used to it. It's not like they didn't know they weren't well liked in a lot of circles.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely! I've never exactly made it a secret that I'm not a fan, and since this is my LJ I stand fast by my rule of "My LJ, I can post what I want in it." :)

I guess, to coin a term they were very fond of, they got all "butthurt" about my post. Aww.

Poor little chaffed nonnie!asses.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed. I'd offer lotion, but they don't exist anymore. ;)

Well isn't that just tragic
Ha-fucking-HA!

LOL

I'm guessing they'll be back, in one form or another...

[identity profile] jesseofthenorth.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah well whatever form it takes it will still be an evil-wart-encrusted steaming pile of bitchyness.
Glad y'all are getting a break for now.

[identity profile] icelily01.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I feel like I'm missing something.

The anon meme?

You mean like that entire comm or whatever it was?

What an awful day in fandom. I think we should all have a moment of silence....

Or, you know, not.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I love your way of expressing yourself through gifs. It's like an art form. :D

lol GIFs are pretty much my favorite thing about the interwebz, I can't even lie... My collection is ever expanding.

You know my thoughts on the anon meme. Good riddance. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

*kicks anon meme out the door*

[identity profile] nyoka.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I hope it stays dead.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Wincon having happened this past weekend? I wonder if the anonmeme mod got outed? Interesting coincidence nonetheless...

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe. At least two new "anon" journals have cropped up in the meantime, anyway. So I doubt it'll stay dead for long.

/mini-threadjack

Interesting, interesting.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I'm curious. How would outing the anon mod mean the failure of the meme?
ext_19515: by: art_in_disguise (Default)

[identity profile] faunaana.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
There were already some suspects, and if true, would have been pretty disastrous for those people's continued existence in fandom.

Deleting it may have been a way to cya.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Huh.

I'm not a fan of them meme by any stretch, but I can't say that if I knew who the mod was that it would colour my judgment all that much.

Then again, I say that with the certainty that it's probably none of my fandom friends, so maybe I'm delusional. ;)

[identity profile] mimblexwimble.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Can we celebrate? I feel like celebrating.

Apparently though these get banned and then pop right back up so . . . apparently fandom will never be free.

[identity profile] elsewhere-kels.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
...I cannot say I am displeased with this development.

[identity profile] charis-kalos.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
I find myself able to contemplate its demise with surprising equanimity.

[identity profile] annj-g80.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
I think this whole thing kinda passed me unnoticed. What anon meme? Oh, never mind. I guess I didn't miss a thing.

[identity profile] calamitycrow.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
this kitty has a theory! Well two, actually

maybe it got deleted because:

the mod felt that they had finally succeeded in their goal - which was to make this fandom as a hostile and unfriendly as they possibly can to writers and artists (especially new and inexperienced ones), because that's obviously a very, very clever way to keep your favorite show on the air.

OR

the mod finally realized that it was blatantly silly (and even a little pathetic) to spend hours whining about typos and plot holes and OOC moments in fanfic, considering that even NOOBs in this fandom generally write better quality stuff than Sera, Kripke, or Ben.

I think both theories are totally valid.

Oh and if it makes you feel better, my human's fic got blasted by several people on the anonmeme solely because this kitty did not put the artist's name in proper LJ Coding on the thank yous, and that was rude!! Now that? Is constructive criticism which me and my human needed. Trufax.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG kitty, I am SHOCKED and APPALLED at how rude you were! Not coding the artist's name properly? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?

*snort*

Alas, another journal has sprung up in its place. It's a bit like a zombie plague. ;)

[identity profile] calamitycrow.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
oh well, hopefully the new anon meme will drive even more writers and artists out of the fandom. The more this kitty thinks about, the more this seems like a great idea.

If the anonnies can make enough creative people uncomfortable and get them to leave the fandom, then the numbers of those who are watching the show will start increasing. Such smart anonnies, using reverse psychology like that. If you look at the ratings for the show, its already working! :D

[identity profile] calamitycrow.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
oh wait, sorry those were the ratings for Blue Bloods.

[identity profile] calamitycrow.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess so? And yeah, the ratings for SPN this season are sad - its consistently one of the bottom three shows for Friday night.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ick. That's really sad. Not surprising, given the fact that they shifted it away from Thursdays and put it right after Smallville, though. I think the network is not-so-subtly trying to kill it off.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-10-19 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't been watching the ratings, because such numbers mean very little to me.

A few years ago, this might have been enough to drive me away from fandom, but I'm thicker-skinned than I used to be. :)

*shakes head in bemusement*
