Another thought that's not an insta-reaction

Behind a cut, because of spoilers.

Am I the only one who's having issues with Show's humour, lately?

Potty humour aside, I am getting increasingly squicked by the rape jokes. Is it me, or are they getting more... explicit? I mean, there was the "rode hard and put up wet" from earlier seasons, but this last episode just made me wince and CRINGE.

*Dean* didn't mean it as a joke, but it felt as though the writers were playing it for the laughs, you know?

It was just weird from a guy who, only a few episodes ago, asked "How is that not rapey?" about a situation, thus expressing his obvious disapproval for the act.

It just... it was jarring, you know?

It's not like he's approving of the fact that he's being played by a demon. That said, I agree the line was offensive, although what really shocked me about the episode was the Meg torture scene. That scene did not really contribute much to the ep, was just an excuse to keep Meg occupied until the Winchesters did... whatever they did. All the rapey connotations of that scene kind of threw me.

I try not to dwell on these things. I find that it's healthier, all round.
