Heh. Perversely, even though it's waaaaay behind in the polls, I kind of feel like writing that J2 Avatar re-telling (complete with much less clichéd plotlines, hopefully, and slightly more realistic characterisation of secondary characters) for the spn_j2_bigbang, because HOLY CRAP IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES FOR ART! \o/

Anyway, this is actually a Writing Projects Post™ masquerading as me waffling further about the Big Bang. ;)

Since I am still aiming for my more-or-less insane wordcount goal of 1 million words by December 31st, I've realized that I am really going to have to stay on top of my projects and deadlines, so I'm going to try to make weekly project posts for my own benefit. These are guidelines and wish lists, more than rigid schedules, but they should help.

Anyway, carry on. Nothing behind the cut except what I'm planning to work on this week.

So...

Wordcount goal for January 9th: 24,660 words.

- spn_las: God help me, I'm still in it. I don't know how that happened. 1,000 words or so, due Wednesday before 17:00.

- l4d_bigbang: 5,000 words minimum, completed draft due Wednesday at midnight. I'm at half my wordcount, but not really half my story. Oops? I can totally make this, no problem.

- Beyond the Pale: Nobody here knows what that is, because it's actually an original piece (an AU Western) that I spent two years or so posting in serial form. It's still not finished, but I'm going to start posting it again and adding new words. It used to post on Tuesdays, so I'm going to try for that again.

- Conflation: Another original fic serial, this time science fiction. It's designed to be shorter than Beyond the Pale, thank God, so I'm going to try to finish it

- gabriel_bigbang: summaries are due on the 14th, so I need to get cracking. At this point I still only have a really vague idea for what I want to do, so. :P

- spn_jimmynovak: Novakfest. Pinch-hit, due Friday. Minimum 500 words, but it's probably going to end up longer, given the prompts I got.

Okay, those are the main ones. If I have time/inspiration, I also have the following projects I'd like to work on:

- the untitled H50 fic that's currently trying to eat my brain,

- Roses in December: I'd like to get one chapter done this week. I've already decided where it's going to end, and I think that I'm actually only about two, maybe three chapters away from that. It's going to have a sequel, too, which I'm excited about.

- The Angel Pin: this requires my actually talking to rainylemons, so we shall see...

LOL, spn_las. It's getting harder and harder to find enthusiasm for that (for me anyway). You'd think as it got down to the wire, it'd be the opposite.

I am awed by how prolific you are. I can't finish anything lately so let me tell you how impressed I am by your awesome fic output. Awesome in both quality and quantity.

I totally understand about spn_las. I dunno, I'm just gritting my teeth and hanging in there until they kick me out. It was never as much fun as I thought it would be, and I'm never really entirely thrilled by the plot.

I blame roque_clasique for the Avatar thing. She suggested it, and now I can't get it out of my head.

Let me know if you ever feel like doing something similar to what I did with dante_s_hell and have a little online writing jam. I find those are fantastic to get things jump-started when you're feeling a little stuck. :)

HOLY CRAP!!!! You make me feel like such a slacker... here I am with about 500-1000 words to go on my roque_clasique for the hoodie_time remix that's due Friday but I need to finish tonight on the prayer of it getting beta-ed and that's about it for the week. Also need to start the oh_sam ficcage... I'm about a week behind due to holidays and FRIGGING PNEUMONIA!!!! (I was upgraded to "potential pneumonia" from "acute respiratory infection" after the tech at the clinic saw my X-Ray... *sigh* 2011 can only go up from being unemployed with pneumonia....)

Oh, ick. I had three weeks of non-stop illness too starting before Christmas: gastro the first week, and some sort of respiratory infection that would not die for the other two, so I totally understand. I spent all my time either at work (getting mocked for my lack of voice) or at home underneath a pile of blankets and cats. On the plus side, I was able to get a lot of writing done from bed.

And no, don't feel like a slacker. I am certifiably insane, just ask anyone around here. I spend a LOT of time writing.

My goal is to write stuff. Actually, I have bigger goals than that. I have the chance to be published in a cookbook if I can get the right combination of good recipe and good story. That involves both writing AND performing. I DID sign up for the Ohsam challenge, and I need to get cracking because I do not write quickly- not like you, amazing girl!

Awesome. That movie was RIFE with the potential for h/c, and they did NOTHING with it!

Come on! Paralysis! Atmosphere that can't be breathed! Giant carnivorous beasts! Giant birds! Giant trees! Giant everything on a planet that's essentially really hostile to human life! I was waiting for our protagonist to eat something nasty/get an infected bite so that the pretty alien girl would get to wipe his fevered brow or something! /o\

So, yes. I plan to rectify that in my fic. Probably a lot. ;)

I guess my being astonished is getting old by now. I consider myself lucky if I can hammer out more than 500 words a day. A million... is just surreal.

In my defence, I usually mostly end up fixing Sam in the majority of my stories!

And yeah. I do write pretty fast, and I also have a really weird work schedule which allows me to get writing done when there's no one else around.

Also, you ripped out Sam's eye? Good job! Don't forget to post when you're done! ;)

Hee! That's the goal. No idea if I'll be able to make it, since I wrote about half of that last year and felt as if I was spending all my time writing.

The plan is to finish Roses in December before the end of January. *fingers crossed*
