I'm totally spamming my flist today, sorry

Heh. Perversely, even though it's waaaaay behind in the polls, I kind of feel like writing that J2 Avatar re-telling (complete with much less clichéd plotlines, hopefully, and slightly more realistic characterisation of secondary characters) for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang, because HOLY CRAP IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES FOR ART! \o/

...

Okay. I'm good now.

Anyway, this is actually a Writing Projects Post™ masquerading as me waffling further about the Big Bang. ;)

Since I am still aiming for my more-or-less insane wordcount goal of 1 million words by December 31st, I've realized that I am really going to have to stay on top of my projects and deadlines, so I'm going to try to make weekly project posts for my own benefit. These are guidelines and wish lists, more than rigid schedules, but they should help.

Anyway, carry on. Nothing behind the cut except what I'm planning to work on this week.

So...

Wordcount goal for January 9th: 24,660 words.

- [livejournal.com profile] spn_las: God help me, I'm still in it. I don't know how that happened. 1,000 words or so, due Wednesday before 17:00.

- [livejournal.com profile] l4d_bigbang: 5,000 words minimum, completed draft due Wednesday at midnight. I'm at half my wordcount, but not really half my story. Oops? I can totally make this, no problem.

- Beyond the Pale: Nobody here knows what that is, because it's actually an original piece (an AU Western) that I spent two years or so posting in serial form. It's still not finished, but I'm going to start posting it again and adding new words. It used to post on Tuesdays, so I'm going to try for that again.

- Conflation: Another original fic serial, this time science fiction. It's designed to be shorter than Beyond the Pale, thank God, so I'm going to try to finish it

- [livejournal.com profile] gabriel_bigbang: summaries are due on the 14th, so I need to get cracking. At this point I still only have a really vague idea for what I want to do, so. :P

- [livejournal.com profile] spn_jimmynovak: Novakfest. Pinch-hit, due Friday. Minimum 500 words, but it's probably going to end up longer, given the prompts I got.

Okay, those are the main ones. If I have time/inspiration, I also have the following projects I'd like to work on:

- the untitled H50 fic that's currently trying to eat my brain,

- Roses in December: I'd like to get one chapter done this week. I've already decided where it's going to end, and I think that I'm actually only about two, maybe three chapters away from that. It's going to have a sequel, too, which I'm excited about.

- The Angel Pin: this requires my actually talking to [livejournal.com profile] rainylemons, so we shall see...

ONE MILLION WORDS OMG!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
That's kind of what I thought, and yet here I am, trying for it anyway. :P

[identity profile] dante-s-hell.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Your list looks awesome! Good luck on managing your word count.

I wanted to say thanks again for the other night. The impromptu writing session really helped me out.

Take care.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
My pleasure! I will be happy to do it anytime we're both online at the same time and I'm at home (can't do it at work, alas). Writing jams are a great way to boost productivity.

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm always looking for writing jams -- never took part in one, actually but keep looking. Let me know general times and maybe we can work something out...

[identity profile] claudiapriscus.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
What are they? How do they work? ::is curious::

[identity profile] de-nugis.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
As long as you give me my mutant-radioactive-soul!Sam, too. You could impale him, for good measure. With a million words, you have space to WRITE ALL THE FICS.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I will totally give you radiation!sickness!Sam. I will impale him in a different fic for you, too. It's still on my list. :)

2011 will probably be known as the Year of Fic™.

Also, you should TOTALLY participate in the Big Bang!

Don't worry - I'll be home tomorrow night and we'll figure out a plan for writing. The good thing is that I don't have clinicals until April. Sweet!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
SWEET!

And welcome back! Did you have a good trip?

[identity profile] icelily01.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
I always feel like such a slacker when I see your project lists lol

Mine is like:

Step 1. Wait for inspiration.

Step 2. ?????????

<3

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
The correct response is to feel sane when you see my project lists. ;)

I dunno. I seem to have more plot bunnies than I know what to do with, not that I'm complaining or anything. ;)

You're doing the Big Bang this year, right? Right?

Also, remember that pledge I made about not doing as many Big Bangs this year? BAHAHAHAAAAA! Yeah, no. *headdesk*

Oh my God. J2 Avatar by you with accompanying art. I would read RPF for that.

LOL, spn_las. It's getting harder and harder to find enthusiasm for that (for me anyway). You'd think as it got down to the wire, it'd be the opposite.

I am awed by how prolific you are. I can't finish anything lately so let me tell you how impressed I am by your awesome fic output. Awesome in both quality and quantity.

A million words worth of fic from you? Can't wait!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
*smooshes you*

I totally understand about [livejournal.com profile] spn_las. I dunno, I'm just gritting my teeth and hanging in there until they kick me out. It was never as much fun as I thought it would be, and I'm never really entirely thrilled by the plot.

I blame [livejournal.com profile] roque_clasique for the Avatar thing. She suggested it, and now I can't get it out of my head.

Let me know if you ever feel like doing something similar to what I did with [livejournal.com profile] dante_s_hell and have a little online writing jam. I find those are fantastic to get things jump-started when you're feeling a little stuck. :)

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
May I second this sentiment: A million words worth of fic from you? Can't wait!

And this (oh, god, yes, THIS): Oh my God. J2 Avatar by you with accompanying art. I would read RPF for that.

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
HOLY CRAP!!!! You make me feel like such a slacker... here I am with about 500-1000 words to go on my [livejournal.com profile] roque_clasique for the [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time remix that's due Friday but I need to finish tonight on the prayer of it getting beta-ed and that's about it for the week. Also need to start the [livejournal.com profile] oh_sam ficcage... I'm about a week behind due to holidays and FRIGGING PNEUMONIA!!!! (I was upgraded to "potential pneumonia" from "acute respiratory infection" after the tech at the clinic saw my X-Ray... *sigh* 2011 can only go up from being unemployed with pneumonia....)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, ick. I had three weeks of non-stop illness too starting before Christmas: gastro the first week, and some sort of respiratory infection that would not die for the other two, so I totally understand. I spent all my time either at work (getting mocked for my lack of voice) or at home underneath a pile of blankets and cats. On the plus side, I was able to get a lot of writing done from bed.

And no, don't feel like a slacker. I am certifiably insane, just ask anyone around here. I spend a LOT of time writing.

[identity profile] primrose-1.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
My goal is to write stuff. Actually, I have bigger goals than that. I have the chance to be published in a cookbook if I can get the right combination of good recipe and good story. That involves both writing AND performing. I DID sign up for the Ohsam challenge, and I need to get cracking because I do not write quickly- not like you, amazing girl!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my God that's GREAT! You will let us know when you're being published, right? Right?

I don't read slash in SPN or J2... unless it's J2AU! I'm looking forward to your Avatar fic (and hoping for a little more h/c than the movie, too)!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome. That movie was RIFE with the potential for h/c, and they did NOTHING with it!

Come on! Paralysis! Atmosphere that can't be breathed! Giant carnivorous beasts! Giant birds! Giant trees! Giant everything on a planet that's essentially really hostile to human life! I was waiting for our protagonist to eat something nasty/get an infected bite so that the pretty alien girl would get to wipe his fevered brow or something! /o\

So, yes. I plan to rectify that in my fic. Probably a lot. ;)

[identity profile] emmram.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
...

I guess my being astonished is getting old by now. I consider myself lucky if I can hammer out more than 500 words a day. A million... is just surreal.

Good luck with all of this! They sound very exciting.

(And did I see radiation-sickness!Sam somewhere in the comments? OH MY GOD. Noooooo. *clings to Sammy* You shall not! Chelsea grin, radiation sickness, ripping his eye out - I just wrote that scene right now, and succeeded in creeping myself out - what next?)

(( I'll just end up reading it anyway, I think. :p ))

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
In my defence, I usually mostly end up fixing Sam in the majority of my stories!

And yeah. I do write pretty fast, and I also have a really weird work schedule which allows me to get writing done when there's no one else around.

Also, you ripped out Sam's eye? Good job! Don't forget to post when you're done! ;)

[identity profile] sinka.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
A million words by you... I can't hardly wait! This is seriously going to be an awesome year for those of us who love your writting!!

Oh, and I must admit I squeeled when I saw you are working on Roses in December! and even have the end decided!! YAY!!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! That's the goal. No idea if I'll be able to make it, since I wrote about half of that last year and felt as if I was spending all my time writing.

The plan is to finish Roses in December before the end of January. *fingers crossed*
