ratherastory: (Single Tear)
ratherastory ([personal profile] ratherastory) wrote2010-05-30 01:59 pm

I am a bad, bad person

I'm watching Dark Angel (through Zip.ca, which is our equivalent of Netflix), and Jensen Ackles is in this episode as a serial killer, and all I can do is think "Hot DAMN, he is pretty!"

No seriously, there is a place for me in the special hell. For one, he's ten years younger in this than he is now, and I am fascinated by his eyes, and God help me, his mouth. I'm just staring, and it's kind of embarrassing.

Also? The main character just smacked him in the face and now he's got blood all over his teeth and GUH.

*headdesk*

He still hurts really purty, and he obviously had that single tear thing going even back then.

OOF.

Like I've always said: if he weren't married and I were straight (and, y'know, he even knew I existed, which he doesn't and which is as it should be)...

(AUUGH! His knee just went totally the wrong way. OH GOD THE SQUICK! Oh, and he's crying and I don't care if he's a serial killer I want to pet the bunny and make him tea.)

Don't feel bad, hon. Jensen has that effect on people. Doesn't matter how old he is, if you are straight, or if he is a bad guy. You look at those eyes and that mouth and all bets are off.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It ought to be ILLEGAL to be that pretty!

The episode is over and now he won't be back until next season (he plays the twin brother of the character), and I'm sad because I have to wait that long.

*pets you and hands you Season 1 Supernatural*

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL

I've watched Season 1 so many times (I think the current count is at 11, because I keep introducing new people to the show by rewatching it with them) that I can quote most of the episodes by heart. ;)

I'm even considering watching Smallville just to see JA in it. I am DOOMED.

[identity profile] sothcweden.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I know what you mean. I didn't watch DA until after I'd seen a couple seasons of SPN and got curious about what both Js had done before that. If you like Ben, I would really, really like to hear your reaction to JA's later role on DarkAngel, since Alec is a character type I have a real weakness for.

And yes, he's really very pretty, isn't he? What you said about "if only [you] were" and "If only he weren't" remind me of reactions to Ben Browder and Claudia Black on Farscape: gay and straight women declared them both possibly exceptions to one's usual orientation...

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Unf. Claudia Black.

...

I'm sorry, were you saying something? ;)

Uh, yeah. Ben Browder is pretty, but doesn't *quite* have the brain-melting effect on me that Jensen Ackles does. Still, I might not kick him out of bed for eating crackers... Huh. I have no Farscape icons. How did that happen?

I'm looking forward to seeing JA on Dark Angel again, just to see what "character type" you're talking about. Is there angst? I'm a sucker for angst.

[identity profile] sinnerforhire.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You have to watch Smallville 4.08, "Spell". Jensen's character falls out a window and Clark catches him in the full-out Harlequin-novel-cover pose. And it is FABULOUS. Also, the girls are possessed by 16th century French witches, one of whom is named Briana. *facepalm*

[identity profile] saberivojo.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I will watch anything with JA in it. He was in a sitcom called Mr. Rhodes and I have watched that! Just to see him in it. Talk about jailbait, he was maybe 16 or something then but still it was him. Then he was in something called Still life...I don't think it ever made it but here is the youtube link

Sorry for going on and on, but that man does it to me.

[identity profile] sinnerforhire.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, you'll LOVE season 2 Jensen. He's a lot like Dean--snarky, devil-may-care exterior covering a gooey angsty marshmallow center. And he wears glasses and plays the piano. UNF.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my God, that sounds AWESOME, in a train-wreck kind of way. I totally have to watch that now.

[identity profile] littleone87.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
HE'S SO SEXY WHEN HE'S HURT! So don't feel bad, you're not the only one who LOVESSSSSSSSS IT! <33333

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
No no, by all means, carry on!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy SHIT, really?

That is hot.

I may be in serious trouble, here...

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I am well aware I'm not alone, which is the only reason I can discuss this more or less publicly. ;)

*pets the pretty boy*

[identity profile] blubird-pie.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, that show. HE'S SO PRETTY! I'd be very interested to hear what you think about JA's character in the next season/ the show in general. I watched it when it was first airing, and then a couple eps again when I started with SPN, but my impressions remained pretty consistent (so much interesting potential! So much awkward, awkward writing!). Well, I did have a greater appreciation of Wee!Ackles post-SPN ;)

[identity profile] sinnerforhire.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's a total trainwreck. On the other hand, Kristin Kreuk is tolerable because she can only act when she's slutting it up, and Allison Mack's cleavage is always relevant. ;) Oh, and there's Clark chained up and bleeding. :D

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL

"Wee!Ackles." That's a hilarious name for it.

The writing on Dark Angel is... awkward, but not nearly as bad as some other shows I enjoyed and am rewatching (The Pretender, anyone? I love the show, but oh God, the WRITING).

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Those ALL sound like excellent reasons to watch. You're right: Allison Mack's cleavage is ALWAYS relevant! ;)

*cackles* I totally sympathize. My SPN friend has tried to get me to watch Dark Angel for Jensen - I've just watched some YouTube clips. And yeah, damn, he was even prettier at that age.

[identity profile] lavinialavender.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
This thread just convinced me I must watch Dark Angel. *fans self frantically*

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about prettier. He kind of looks like jailbait (which is making me hella uncomfortable even while I can't tear myself away). It's a different kind of pretty!

Damn... so pretty.

Waiting anxiously for Season 2 now. ;)

[identity profile] sinnerforhire.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
He angsts while he's playing the piano, even. Try not to explode from glee. ;)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy CRAP! That's epic!

[identity profile] blubird-pie.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
haha, never watched the Pretender, but I had a friend who was into it. In general I like genre shows with an interesting concept more than high-falutin' dramas, and DA did have some great concepts. But there always is that period of mourning for some of the awesomeness that could have been if the writers resisted the urge to say, create a whole set of unfortunate 90's-esque swear words to have the characters use incessantly.

Lol, my S1-watching count keeps climbing for the same reason. I love it so much, though, it really isn't a hardship. And I keep finding new details in the episodes and opportunities to analyze their characters, which is good because I'm still a newbie - only discovered SPN in January - and I'm trying to get a better grasp for fic writing.
