Stick a fork in me, I'm done

73,218 words, and I am done. Mostly. Sent off the last draft to [livejournal.com profile] pkwench for one last round of hand-holding and telling me where things don't work, and then all that's left is to wait for July 9th so I can post it. Oh, and do a whackload of html coding. Holy crap.

I added about 3,000 words to the last chapter, added in a bunch of missing scenes, extra lines, and tweaked some of the existing scenes so that there would be an actual emotional impact instead of, y'know, a grocery list of events. Oy. I hope I succeeded. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Now I'm going to scrounge up dinner, put on an episode of NCIS, and poke at my [livejournal.com profile] spn_solstice fic. I'm aiming for a short fic for that one, and as an added challenge I'm going to try for exactly 1,000 words, just because. It also means I'll be able to get it done relatively quickly.

After that, it'll be time to figure out exactly what I want to do with my [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen and [livejournal.com profile] castielfest fics, since they're both due one month and two weeks from now, respectively. I have a pretty good idea about [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen in terms of voice and characterization, but I'm still working on the plot aspect, and [livejournal.com profile] castielfest is still only a kernel of an idea.

Oof.

Chuck was right: writing is hard.

it's not the extra words, it's the total words. Especially when I think back for how much you must have written in the last few months alone.

You are a writing machine! (which is good, because I'm an insatiable reader.) And I am amazed. I can't even imagine how you get so much done.

Obstinacy, lack of a social life, really inspirational prompts, and a dash of insanity, I think. ;)
