Warnings: mild swearing, crack!fic
Author's Notes: Many thanks to my very patient and understanding beta, [livejournal.com profile] pkwench who helped me make this into something not entirely ludicrous.
Summary: It figures that if Cas was going to get turned into a cute fluffy critter, it would be one that would screw with Sam's allergies. Hope you like it, [livejournal.com profile] piercingnisha!
Neurotic Author's Note: Okay, so apparently I am obsessed with giving Sam asthma, even if the prompt wanted Cas to be turned into a kitten. I insist on having my cake and eating it too!

Title : Smoke on the Water
Recipient : [livejournal.com profile] claudiapriscus for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen exchange! Originally posted here.
Rating: PG13
Warnings & Spoilers: Show-levels of violence, stuff exploding. No gore. Outsider POV. Knowledge of either canon is not strictly necessary in order to understand the story. Set between "Jus in Bello" and "Ghostfacers," for Supernatural, and between "Comrades" and "Scatter Point" for Burn Notice. Mild spoilers through Season 3 of Supernatural and Season 2 of Burn Notice.
Disclaimer: God, what would I give to own all of these people. Especially Sam Axe. Because, you know, how awesome would it be for Bruce Campbell to be mine? Alas, I am to be eternally deprived of that particular joy.
Author's Notes: I wasn't able to include as much Sam Axe in this story as I really wanted to, which makes me sad. I hope, dear prompter, that you're able to forgive me for that. Also, do you know how confusing it is to have two main characters named Sam? Very confusing! Title is taken from the Deep Purple song of the same name.
Thanks and such: My undying thanks go to my tireless beta reader, [livejournal.com profile] pkwench, who put up with me for weeks, waffling and angsting and generally being all emo about this story.
Prompt: Burn Notice Crossover. I don't care how or why, or who is in it, except Sam Axe. Give me lots of Bruce Campbell.
Summary: Casefic. Former spy Michael Westen has enough problems of his own ―not least of which is figuring out who burned him and why. Now, on top of that, his mother is accepting jobs on his behalf. He really doesn't have time for this, but when he starts investigating the unsolved deaths of young people in Miami, he finds himself crossing paths with an unlikely pair of brothers. In Michael's line of work, suspicion is par for the course, and he has to figure out whether Sam and Dean Winchester are friends or foes before even more lives are lost.

Dear Pinch-Hitter who was nice enough to snap up my prompts!

I hereby give you total amnesty concerning my prompts. There is NOTHING you write that I will not appreciate. If you want to take a prompt, run with it and do something completely out of left field, I will be thrilled.

Seriously, do NOT stress about it. Summergen is meant to be fun. :)

Thank you for all your efforts,

My prompts just came up for grabs at spn_summergen for pinch-hitting.

I am a little sad, but hopefully someone will grab them.

You know the drill. *waves hand* Nothing to see here except me wittering on about writing. Carry on. As you were. Etc.

I'm procrastinating on my [livejournal.com profile] castielfest fic. I really shouldn't. I have a good idea for it, even if it hasn't all gelled in my brain yet. After swearing up and down after my [livejournal.com profile] summergen that I wouldn't do a crossover again, but apparently I lied. So now, once again, what should be a quick 1,000-word thing looks like it's going to turn much longer. With any luck it won't be AS long.

I should get back to it. I have some structure problems to figure out, and the sooner I get it done, the sooner I can go back to work on my [livejournal.com profile] deancasbigbang. Not that it's just a chore I have to get over with or anything, but it's kind of stressing me a bit right now. Not massively so, but a bit. Once I get into the right headspace, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Actually, [livejournal.com profile] summergen seems to be stressing out a number of people on my flist these days, and it makes me really sad to see that. Fandom should never be a source of stress and unhappiness for people. *gathers entire flist into a giant squishy hug and feeds them tea and biscuits because she has no idea what else to do*

I am being seduced by the pretty graphics at [livejournal.com profile] tamingthemuse. I haven't signed up yet, because it requires posting every week, a minimum of 500 words, and *has* to include the prompt given. Given all my prior commitments, I'm leery of this. See, I can do 500 words, but I would also have to post said words, and if they happen to be for an ongoing challenge, I'm not allowed to do that. So it would essentially mean ANOTHER commitment, this time of 500 words a week on top of what I'm already writing.

In short, I'm probably going to sign up when I've finished the drafts of all my fic exchanges and Big Bangs. I might use it to update Roses in December, when the time comes. No, I haven't forgotten it, have no fear. I'm just working on more immediate commitments. Or, I might use it to write my project of One Tag For Every Supernatural Episode. That'll get me through a couple of years of prompts at least. :)

Stick a fork in me, my summergen is done! Woohoo! I am going to give it to my long-suffering beta, [livejournal.com profile] pkwench, who has been listening to me WHINE about the transitions in this fic for at least two weeks now, if not more.

I know I whine a lot about writing fic, especially when I sign up for seven thousand challenges, but the truth is that I am having a BLAST writing all this fic. I love the fandom, I love writing the fic, I love coming across challenges that spark my creativity and make me write a little outside my comfort zone.

Okay, I'm good. Carry on. \o/

I am almost done with my summergen. I got massively blocked RIGHT before the end. Stupid fight scene in an area I don't know.

Anyway, I am so close now I can smell it. Then I'll be going back to work on my other stuff.

I am back from my weekend away. I caught fish! There was much rejoicing. And consuming of said fish. And possibly a little too much alcohol. ;)

Good thing I posted my Big Bang, because there will be no fic for a while. I am working on seventeen gazillion things at once, and trying to get all my challenge fics done.

So far summergen stands at 17,000 words (2,000 more today), and I am PRAYING that it will be finished soon. This thing is getting a little out of hand, by my standards. Remind me never to write crossovers again!

The castielfest fic isn't started yet, but I had an epiphany concerning the subject matter over the weekend, so now I at least know how I want to write it, even if I haven't quite worked out all the intricacies of the plot. Wait, didn't I just swear off crossovers forever? CRAP.

And the only other thing I've got on the go with a deadline is the Dean/Cas Big Bang. I've got just shy of 8,000 words written for that, which is nearly halfway! Although I don't think I'm halfway through the story yet.

In short, the writing is going well, but it's stuff that's all going to post later. I will try to post a few one-shots and maybe comment fics here and there, but I can't guarantee anything.

Now I have to go catch up on comments. Egads.
