Final Chapter has been posted for Monstrous Magic Marks!

Genre: SPN/Harry Potter, Gen
Word Count: 76,946
Chapters: 18

Summary: As Sam becomes increasingly desperate to save Dean from the Mark of Cain, their friends decide it's time to step in and lend a hand - whether the Winchesters like it or not.

You can now read the entire story on AO3

You can comment there, or here, whichever you prefer. I hope you enjoy it!

It will be the last major multi-chapter fic for the demented'verse. I MAY write some short one-shots in the future, depending (I've got one small idea right now, but don't yet know if it's viable.) But, as it stands, I consider this the end of the demented'verse saga. I knew it's days were numbered once I started to take it canon-divergent AU in S9, but I'm really happy with the way it turned out, and I hope you are too!

Progress Updates!

This morning during breakfast, i finally decided which prompts I'm going to write for my hurt/comfort bingo card. I'm going to do two parallel diagonal lines that are comprised of 6 prompts in total. I love all my prompts and am sad I couldn't make a line work with allergic reaction. If I have time, perhaps in the amnesty period, I'd like to write them all. But, for now, I decided to just try for a single bingo and then I'll do more when I can. So on Monday I started writing a fic for one of the prompts and tonight I finished it and started another fill. I'm hoping to get as many done this week as possible because once November starts, I want to write for NaNo. And in December, I'll be writing giftfics. So it's now or never! Six short stories... that's doable though, right?

I got to the end of Supernatural Season 11 today. Lots of feels. Those moments with God... that was fantastic. And season 11 had a lot of really good one-off episodes as well. Looking forward to starting season 12! I've got roughly a week and a half of time (not including the business trip I have to take for work) where I can watch episodes before I go to the Supernatural convention, so I need to get caught up! But, because of this, I can't watch Stranger Things this weekend! No Stranger Things until Supernatural is done!

I finished my Popsugar Reading Challenge this week! A whole year's worth of books--52 prompts--all completed! I am super proud of this. I even made a pretty color-coded by month page. Today I finished earreading Ready Player One. I LOVED Wil Wheaton reading it. I loved the plot and the world. I LOVED that there were MULTIPLE Highlander references. I knew it was heavy on video games, but I didn't know about all the other pop culture references, so that was a wonderful surprise. Reciting lines of Monty Python and the Holy Grail from memory along with Wil Wheaton was definitely the highlight of my morning.

So I'm making good progress in life. A little less progress on the cleaning the house front. But I'm hoping to change that this weekend. Of course, every time I say something like that, a migraine hits or something. And I seem to have busted my knee, so I'm hoping it holds out. We'll see. Writing and cleaning and watching Supernatural. That's my plan. Hope it pans out.

Oh, and I started Turtles All the Way Down. Loving it so far, of course, but I'm only on chapter 5 or 6.

Also, no one here cares, but if you like Person of Interest, I read the BEST fic today. It was in this week's edition of the Rec Center. It's called A Field Guide to Common Birds in New York City by Toft, and the story is just spot-on in character and delightful. John joins Tumblr and it's the worst thing ever but he still manages a blog about BORBS and he's in love with Finch but won't admit it and then gets a therapist which is very so much good for him and they save people and are devoted to each other with so much patience and kindness and consideration for eachother that it just fills my heart with so many warm fuzzies. And also birds. And borbs. Which is a thing. And birbs. But mostly borbs. And it's adorable. With feathers.

Hello!!!

I've had only one glass of wine, but I'm actually housesitting, so I didn't have to walk home afterward. So, that's nice. Still, only took bad notes and watched once, so same old same old there.

Anyway, let's talk about the episode...

As usual, let me know what you thought in comments!

Hi guys! Just finished watching this week's episode. Once again, I really enjoyed it. I like Jack, I think Jensen and Jared are both acting their hearts out, as always. I like the story that they're telling so far. Tell me what you think, the good and the bad. I can't wait to see what everyone has to say. :)

The files are almost finished uploading. Once they're done, just follow the links below and then click to download whichever format you'd like best.

Rewatches delayed

Hey, so you may have noticed that I haven't started rewatches yet.

I've decided to wait until I'm back from my vacation in November. So, they'll start up sometime in late November. I know this ruins my plan of being done by Christmas, so I'll probably be aiming for February or something.

Rewatches will be a little different, as I won't be doing line by line dialogue interpretations - but just talking about the episode overall, sort of like my Quick Reaction stream-of-consciousness, but less recappy, more indepth, and with the benefit of hindsight.

Anyway, the delay is mainly because a)I haven't ordered the DVDs yet. b)I'll be house-sitting for a friend for the next two weeks who owns entertainment that I haven't seen before and I'll want to spend that time watching things while I can, and c)I also don't want to interrupt the rewatch flow with a 2-3 week absence when I've just gotten started.

tl;dr: Rewatches start in late November, after vacation fun times!

Hi to my author! I'm excited for this exchange and below are my lists of prompts. If you can't find inspiration from any, you don't have to follow them.

I need a huge favor, please...

Guys, I need to ask a huge favor, if you can't, it's completely fine and I understand. I hate to even ask.

We got another huge bill from Norton's Hospital about two weeks ago for one of Lee's last two infusions for his low iron levels. I was able to work with Norton's and got part of it put one our payment plan and paid off the rest. It was hard but I made it work.

Then we got another $450 bill for the second infusion therapy from the hospital on Friday. It didn't come until after they'd closed at 4pm. I wasn't able to call them about it until Monday, yesterday. I'd hoped to add it to our payment plan, too.

They told me if they added it, because our total is over $5000, that it'd make our monthly payments almost double what they are now. There's no way that we can afford that so I had to go ahead and pay the newest bill. That ate up pretty much everything we had to live on until the end of the month when Lee's paid again.

What makes it bad, and awful timing, is that Lee's leaving for Bloomington Wednesday morning for his three day conference trip for Statewide, he won't be home until Friday. He'll have some meals provided while he's there but not all, especially his dinners.

I'm going to take stuff to Half Price books and Clothes Mentor to sell today, plus I've got a bunch of stuff posted tonight to eBay, it's why I'm still up instead of sleeping like I should be. I just don't know if what I can make will be fast enough, or pay enough, for what we need.

If they do sell, though, it'll be a huge help. What I was hoping is that you'd help me spread the word about my having stuff up for sale. If you wouldn't mind doing it, here's the link:

http://stores.ebay.com/Barbaras-Essentials

If you see anything you'd like, but don't like using eBay, just let me know, we can figure out what postage will be then add it on. I can do checks but would prefer PayPal if possible. My PayPal addy is bstaton@iglou.com. If you don't have a PayPal account I can just invoice you for whatever you want to buy and then you can use either your debit or credit card to pay for it. I've done that for a couple of people and it works great.

I'm going to go try and grab a little sleep, I promise I'll check in later. Thanks, guys, as always, for listening! :)

*hugs*

It's not that I didn't think there were any photos of me on Facebook so much that - okay, I need to back up a bit. Last week - no, more than that. This is a big thing that only tangentially relates to me, so let me just start off with the biggest piece of news.

My younger brother's going to be on television.

Starting on Wednesday, on Fusion TV at 8 PM, Car vs. America is going live with my younger brother as one of the co-hosts. He's the taller one. This has been in production for months now, with a backstory that reads like a classic British sitcom, what with the website where he works getting sold and bought with the new owners wanting to recruit TV talent from outside the company and then looking within the existing employment pool and a whole roundabout of their TV show pitch working its way to be pitched right back to them almost exactly the same. He's given me behind the scenes stories of fights with producers I don't care to recount and every so often he stumbles back to New York City for a few days before heading back out to Pennsylvania for a story on a 25-year wait on imports or a drive from LA to Seattle following the most amusing route possible.

And this Wednesday, it goes on TV.

Last Tuesday, I saw the first episode. I saw it at the premiere party at the downtown office where he goes on the days he goes into an office. It was a fun half-hour of TV, lots of laughs, and yes, it's basically my younger brother up there. The party was definitely a party, with people hanging around and chatting and having fun with drinks and snacks and toys, and I was the first person there to figure out how to make the RC cars - "analog drones," I joked - go backwards. Someone was going around taking pictures, from informal snaps to serious smiles.

I'm in three of them. Six, seven, and nine, the one in the striped high-low dress. Front and center, even, in seven. In the ninth one I'm way on the upper left corner, but that's me up there. I deactivated my account years ago and didn't know until I found out almost by accident, when I heard my father tell someone else about the dress I wore. So I could've gone on for ages not knowing instead of just being taken by surprise a few days after the fact.

(It's dark rum and pineapple juice on the rocks, if you're wondering, and it wasn't the only reason I was smiling.)

It was a deeply enjoyable party, even if twice someone first gave my older brother a handshake - he's in a few, most clearly in the second-to-last where he's holding up a promotional T-shirt - and then moved to give me a hug. People I'd never met or even heard of, moving in for a hug. I didn't hug back, just stayed standing still, and then put out my hand for a shake. If they'd hugged my brother first, I'd have hugged back, since that would've been a sign of how things were done. But, as they didn't, I myself didn't reciprocate.

Still, even for that happening twice, I had fun. I got a t-shirt and some banana pudding and a couple of drinks, and it turns out, there's new pictures of me on Facebook.

And my younger brother's going to be on TV in a few days. Which is, I gotta say, pretty darn cool of him.

And I think, in that one picture, that's a pretty good smile.
