Stick a fork in me, I'm done

73,218 words, and I am done. Mostly. Sent off the last draft to [livejournal.com profile] pkwench for one last round of hand-holding and telling me where things don't work, and then all that's left is to wait for July 9th so I can post it. Oh, and do a whackload of html coding. Holy crap.

I added about 3,000 words to the last chapter, added in a bunch of missing scenes, extra lines, and tweaked some of the existing scenes so that there would be an actual emotional impact instead of, y'know, a grocery list of events. Oy. I hope I succeeded. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Now I'm going to scrounge up dinner, put on an episode of NCIS, and poke at my [livejournal.com profile] spn_solstice fic. I'm aiming for a short fic for that one, and as an added challenge I'm going to try for exactly 1,000 words, just because. It also means I'll be able to get it done relatively quickly.

After that, it'll be time to figure out exactly what I want to do with my [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen and [livejournal.com profile] castielfest fics, since they're both due one month and two weeks from now, respectively. I have a pretty good idea about [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen in terms of voice and characterization, but I'm still working on the plot aspect, and [livejournal.com profile] castielfest is still only a kernel of an idea.

Oof.

Chuck was right: writing is hard.

Sounds about right. I've only watched 5.11 once, and I probably won't rewatch it much: it's the one episode of Season 5 I really didn't enjoy much.

Ooh, seriously? I thought it was brilliant. The one I didn't enjoy was Fallen Idols - actually I think it's my all-time least favorite ep. (And amazingly enough, my reasons have nothing to do with Paris Hilton, LOL.)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2010-06-29 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, God. I repressed that one. Fallen Idols was just terrible, and you're right: it really has very little (even nothing) to do with Paris Hilton.

5.11 disappointed me. I expected so much more from that episode in terms of the boys maybe gaining insight into themselves, and instead we just got more of the same. I've been spoiled by fanfiction, is the problem. ;)

Lol, fanfic does tend to spoil.

I kind of thought that too, at first - but I had the review on that one, and as I went through it for the review I noticed that it said a lot more stuff (A LOT MORE) than you would be able to catch on just one viewing. It being a psych type ep, a lot of the clues and hints are visual instead of expositional. Also, on the second watch you already know things you didn't know the first time, like that the Dr wasn't real, and it frees up yer brain to wonder what it all means. :)

Anyway. It's on my master list if you want to ever give it another shot. ;)

Plus, Sam's hair is very pretty. ♥

See, Sam's hair has annoyed me since he started growing it long. I miss the shaggy, floppy bangs from S1 & 2, although I understand why they didn't keep them. ;)

I flatter myself that I saw a lot of the visual clues, but I felt the episode didn't actually bring anything new to the table. It just stated what observant viewers already knew about the boys.

I'll probably give it another watch, see what comes up.

[identity profile] tahirire.livejournal.com 2010-06-29 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol, you're making me want to go watch it again and see what I think.

... ok, your icon is making me want to watch it again and see that scene.

.... and the pudding scene.

I think it was less the viewers learning new things and more the boys realizing what those things meant for THEM in the context of where to go from there. It was kind of the breaking point episode, where Sam decides to take his personal issues head-on and not be swayed and become more determined than ever, and Dean started his slide into despair, foreshadowing the fact that Dean would be the one to say yes later on b/c he'd given up.

.... I think in s6 Sam will have a ponytail and ride a motorcycle and look like Jesus. O.o

Oh my God. That would either be awful or epic.

[identity profile] tahirire.livejournal.com 2010-06-29 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Or epically awful. *waggles eyebrows*

Lol. It's been fun, babe. I'll let you get back to your life now. I gotta go experiment with cellophane.

.... for the FAIRY WINGS, of course. What were YOU thinking? ;)

*wanders away*

I made fairy wings out of cellophane a few times.

I just assumed you were baking. ;)
