Because it ought to be my birthday all month long
Okay.
It's not a secret by now that I am completely and totally obsessed with Supernatural, and that the only way I can work through this obsession is by writing fic.
I'm thinking casefic at this point (don't worry, I'm not giving up on the other WIPs I have), but because it's my birthday + 1 day I am going to make you work for it.
Give me a prompt for the case you've always wanted to see the boys take on and they never did. It can be anything from a one-word prompt ("UNICORN!") all the way to a full prompt complete with your favourite secondary characters or whatever.
After that I pick the prompt(s) I like best, and I'll write it (them). Also, I am happy to beat either boy into a puddle —within the confines of a casefic— for the record, if that's part of the prompt. It's not a secret that I'm a h/c whore.
Sound good?
I thought so, at any rate. ;)

But, since you asked ...ever see the movie 'The Descent'? Bloody, twisted mess that thing, but if you watch those kinds of movies (and I do, she admits) there's a certain dark, horrible charm and despair to the underground in that movie. So many narrow spaces, giant unknowable caverns, underground rivers, endless chasms, and a desperate need for light, rope, strong arms, and sanity. I'd really like them underground. Not the brief, easy, oh, look it's a mine shaft in Windego underground, but deep. Stygian darkness where signs of any previous explorers is probably kind of creepy and where unexpected shafts of sunlight maybe seem like the light of heaven itself.
As to why they have to go spelunking? Author's choice. Any manner of monster, supernatural or otherwise could be down there. There could be tormented spirits who wreak absolute havoc topside and whose bones can only be found, salted, and burned deep underground. Evil, nattery little stone fairies, a vampire or pack of vampires or even a werewolf gone mad and to ground, anything that makes you say "oooh!" I just think it'd be awesome to get them down there and to try to keep them whole, alive, and working with the only food and light that which they can carry with them.
Damn. Now I want to watch 'The Descent'. I blame you. :)

The new style of LJ has a really annoying nesting comment system which is hard to navigate. I reply to the wrong thing all the time. :P

I love this idea. It's going to take a while to write it, though. I want to do it justice.
And yes, I totally know it's like asking people to shop for their own present, but I work best with prompts, so.

Do check out the movie. I'm kind of picky about my horror movies and that one gets my seal of approval. I think they do such a wonderful job with the landscape of the underground world. It's so completely alien, but then there's touches of the above which just make it more creepy and awful. Not to mention, hooboy, panic and hallucinations galore. Bit of gore, though, just as a warning.
You know I love yarking up prompts. If I could get paid to do it, I'd be the happiest girl on the west side. It's fun. And apparently only requires me to sit here and go "what if" and not do any of the actual work that requires talent, time, and mojo. It's a win-win.

I love your prompts. Your "what ifs" seem to strike a chord in me that makes me want to write-write-write.
So, win-win for me too. :)
