I just saw the post and I certainly didn't expect you to be the first person on the list :D (I was under the impression you were somewhat doubtful in the matter still)
Congrats - I'm awfully excited for everyone who gets to be part of it, especially if they're someone I know, whose fic I like, and they're fairly new to writing for the fandom (I love the fresh look the new authors bring).
I didn't expect to be the first person on the list, either! I'm the kind of person who jumps right into the freezing lake rather than try and go in gradually, though, so I think that might explain it. :P
I am having SO much fun with this fandom. I'm actually kind of sad that I'm coming to it so late. Oh, if only I had been keeping up with pop culture five years ago!

Hehehe, I actually remember myself in front of the TV some three years ago: ANNOUNCER, in an ominous voice: "Two brothers, facing the world of supernatural..." - footage of Ackles and Padalecki kicking down a door, surrounded by a cloud testosterone - ME: "The eff is this?!" *changes channels* --- imagine what living with that knowledge now feels like :D
And I feel exactly like you do - I'm just so glad to have accidentally found this fandom again - an amazing group of people to know!!!
I have never ever really been part of a fandom before, and it's SO COOL.
Aww, it's so sweet you like us! I was practically raised by fan fiction writers (it's TV I'm always highly suspicious about), and I always worry a bit when new people find us - are they going to make fun of us? I hope we don't scare them, and so on!
All my friends are geeks of a high order, and several of them are part of various fandoms (not SPN, though), so I at least knew what it was. I just never participated this actively before.
Also, everyone reading this thread, witness above a back-pedalling of a highest order! :D:D
I knew I should change that testosterone comment the moment I posted it, but some people are just too damned fast with replying!
I don't know what the original previews advertised, but my show commercials did not advertise the aspects most fans became to love about the show - just trust me everyone, if you had seen the ads our local channel did, YOU would have changed the channel, too!
I don't think anyone's offended, if anyone else is actually reading this comment thread.
The whole kicking-down-doors thing *is* pretty testosterone-laden, after all, and I'm pretty sure any station can make previews unappealing in the extreme.
Well, I'm glad if you weren't offended! I realised how judgemental that comment may sound to someone else only after I had posted it, and criticising other people's tastes is something I usually try to keep at a minimum even inside my head. I firmly agree with whoever it was who said it's our differences that keep our community vibrant, and it particularly applies to the fandom.

I'm loving every second of this. :D

Then again, I am a giant dork and have always loved fantasy, science fiction and horror, so this show pushes ALL the right buttons for me.
Still don't, but now there's the fantastic world of DVDs and torrents that helps enable my habits. ;)
What I didn't know about before was fandom. I have never ever really been part of a fandom before, and it's SO COOL. I love it.

I'm having fun, anyway. :)

I'm pretty easy-going, most of the time. I also enjoy keeping my LJ a drama-free zone. ;)
