[livejournal.com profile] pkwench to the rescue!

I know I've been whining a LOT about the fic I was writing for an exchange, but [livejournal.com profile] pkwench has totally saved the day! She asked about the prompts I got, then threw a couple of ideas my way, including one which was pretty cracktastic, and suddenly I had 4,000+ words of fiction written.

Yeah, I don't know. The woman has special magical prompting powers, I swear!

It turns out that I needed to scrap the really boring thing I wrote before and write crack fiction instead. I really hope the prompter isn't too offended by what I came up with, but I REGRET NOTHING.

The new fic is a LOT better. It flowed, it had some fun lines in it (including": “Great. In the meantime, I'm stuck re-enacting Julia & Julia,” Dean grumbled. which is my personal favourite), and had a better ending than the last one.

In short: \o/

Open letter to self

Dear Self,

Seriously, if you're going to write today, write your BigBang. Do NOT go and poke at [livejournal.com profile] ohsam and [livejournal.com profile] sharp_teeth for prompts.

*sigh*

No love,

Me

Supernatural Spam

(Wouldn't that make an awesome crack!fic? Haunted cans of Spam! Except that's not what this entry is about. Anway, moving right along...)

1- I am a devoted fangirl, and as such I am willing to spend the time uploading this Supernatural custom mood theme. Really, I am. But, dear LiveJournal, WHY IS IT SO FIDDLY? There has to be a better way than copy-pasting 100,000 individual URLs into the little boxes AND specifying the height and width in pixels. It's taking for-freaking-ever.

2- My coworker J is seriously freaking hooked on the show now. We watched right up until almost the end of Season 2 over night shift on Sunday, and she kind of fidgeted and hinted none-too-subtly about "Hey, maybe we should, y'know, do something today, since we're both off work."

So I invited her over for dinner and we watched the Season 2 finale and then we watched the first DVD of Season 3.

She's hilarious. She's like me, in that she yells at the TV when she gets anxious about what's going on. I have discovered that I love watching people's reactions to the show almost as much as I love the show itself. At the beginning of "All Hell Breaks Loose II" she started bouncing in her seat and yelling "Oh God, WHAT IS HE DOING?!? It's a crossroads! Daphné, tell me he's not doing what I think he's doing! OH, GOD, DEAN! NO! DON'T DO IT!"

We're definitely going to be watching more of it together.

3- I never mentioned it before, because I have a really short attention span (which is why most of my fiction is under 5,000 words), but I had it brought home to me as I re-watched the show (again, I know).

One of my favourite throw-away moments is in "Nightmare." Sam and Dean are heading out after Roger Miller is killed gruesomely (guillotine!window FTW!), talking about their next move, when a car horn sounds to the right of the camera. Even though they're well away from the street, Dean automatically moves forward and puts his hand in front of Sam's chest, in a classic soccer-mom move, to keep him away from the car. Even though Sam is in no danger whatsoever.

It warms my heart, I can't even tell you how much. Neither of them mention it or act like it's a big deal, Dean just does it because it comes naturally, and Sam doesn't even notice or roll his eyes or anything.

Oh, BOYS. *pets them*
