What is WRONG with people?

Just had to ban someone from ohsam for posting the most horrific, insulting, gross comment to someone I happen to like and respect tremendously. Heck, even if it had been to someone I don't know, it would be just as bad.

It was an older post, too, and the comment seemed totally unprovoked as far as I could tell. It's not a bot, either, because I went and checked to see (so I could report the bot if necessary), it seems to be an actual person with other fandom people friended.

What the hell, I ask you?

Needless to say, this person's ass has been banned from the comm, no questions asked. This is the good thing about being the mod: I can decide if there will be second chances, and this time there will be none.

Jesus.

Indeed, the perks of being a mod are many, and I am grateful for them at times like this. The comment was just gross, a string of profanities and misogynistic and homophobic garbage.

I've come across some incredible jerks in random places around lj. People who mostly behave as normal humans and then turn around and do something completely awful. I'll never understand what drives people to behave that way. And it's frustrating because it's hard to know, unless you're directly involved in something, whether someone is pulling that kind of behaviour where it's mostly invisible.
