Big Bang waffling

A whole bunch of Big Bangs sign-ups are coming up, and I am at a bit of a loss. I have several story ideas which could work for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang, but I'm floundering a bit for the rest.

The one which is causing me the most angst is the [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang. I've written one crossover in the past, which was my Burn Notice crossover for [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen, so I know I can do it, but I'm still being all waffly about it, because I don't know which show to cross SPN with.

Oh, what the hell. Let's have some polls!

[Poll #1663730]

[identity profile] klutzy-girl.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Leverage seems like a good fandom to cross over with. I have no idea why. I was going to choose Hawaii Five-0, but I don't think that'd work well.

And I couldn't choose between the fairies fic and the soulless Sam one. They both sounded awesome.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought of H50, but it's so damned expensive to get to Hawaii, I can't see the boys getting there, realistically speaking. Plus, they'd have to leave the Impala behind!

But yeah. The idea of Dean and Danny getting into an argument over anything is giggle-inducing. :D

I want to see your take on soulless Sam, be it BB or a shorter thing, but the faeries one also sounds awesome.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The plan IS to write all of these, it's just a question of the order in which they get written. :)

[identity profile] saberivojo.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I chose Sons of Anarchy as the cross over. Because Jax is smoking hot and I love this video by fatedcinderella84. The premise is that Jax is a family friend. Other people like Chemm80 have slashed Jax and Dean and done it well. I'm not really much of a slash fan but that doesn't mean that it couldn't be done.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjbCYLqk78E&feature=player_embedded#!

Second was Justified, because Raylan is smoking hot.

Third is H50 because they are hot too.

Do you sense a pattern here? *giggles.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL

Alas, the only show I'm familiar with in all those is H50. I may have to figure out a way to get Dean to surf after all... ;)

[identity profile] ianthe-echo.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, but I couldn't choose between silent!verse, faeries, and Season 6 Sam because they all sound awesome to me.

NCIS, Burn Notice, and House MD because they are all set on Earth in a modern setting and can be crossed over without too many canonical changes in either one. Some other fandoms I can think of, but may have to involve some time travel, fusioning, or something else to work, are Star Trek Reboot, Sanctuary, and Firefly/Serenity.

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Burn Notice worked well when I did it last year, I'm just not sure about, y'know, a plot that would work with it this time around.

I'm not a huge fan of House, but I've seen crossovers done really well with that. :)

I kind of like the idea of Sanctuary... I wonder if they'd consider Sam an 'abnormal?'

As for THIS QUESTION: Which would you most like to see as my spn_j2_bigbang?

I vote for:
Sam is kidnapped by faeries as a child & isn't seen for 7 years (casefic)

But my first choice is actually a Fusion!Verse story.... FUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOONNNNN!!!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee!

Fusion doesn't work for Big Bangâ„¢ because you'd have to read at least the first story before the BB, and that disqualifies it according to the BB rules.

Supernatural Hawaii

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
So I just typed in "Hawaii +Supernatural" (without quotes) into google and got these two sites to start... there's loads more and I can poke around a bit...

http://terrifyingtales.blogspot.com/2007/06/supernatural-hawaii.html

http://www.honolulumagazine.com/Honolulu-Magazine/October-2008/Haunted-Hawaii/

And even though these are old (from 2007 and 2008 respectively) it'd still work because I believe those were the years of S3 and S4...

Re: Supernatural Hawaii

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
http://www.carpenoctem.tv/haunt/hi/

*points up* It's a pretty decent compilation... The trick is to get Sam to geek out appropriately enough for Dean to follow. Most of these seem like half-assed hauntings by the boys' standards and Dean'd probably be all "Why the FUDGE do I wanna go to Hawaii for a poltergeist?!" Unless the guys were there for some R & R.

Fusionverse Big Bang?

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. You're not the first to ask, but I think the fact that it would require reading the first Fusion fic disqualifies it from the BB. Also, Fusion so far has mostly consisted of short one-shots. I'm not sure it lends itself to a longer format...

Oh damn I clicked before I managed to fill in everything :(

Being Human BBC
Charmed
H50

My two cents

[identity profile] phorenice.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Big Bang:
I can't choose between the first three options, so I checked them all (very helpful, I know :p).
I probably wouldn't read the Avatar story, because
a) I haven't seen the movie (due to utter lack of interest) and
b) so far I've managed to stay away from RPF.

Crossovers:

1. Criminal Minds, because there can never be too many good CM/SPN casefic crossovers.

2. Dexter - just because all this talk about soulless!Sam being like Dexter and even Dean calling him Dexter in-show sent me on a Dexter marathon (finished the S5 finale yesterday). And now I really want some Sam-Dexter interaction. No idea on how to turn that into a Big Bang, though.

3. The Walking Dead - Oh, come on! Zombie Apocalypse? That show was made to be crossed over with SPN.

Good luck with all these projects. Seems like you'll have a busy year.

[identity profile] mymuseandi.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought you could do a crossover with The Mentalist, because I would love for the main character trying to "read" Dean and Sam. Plus, Patrick Jane (the main character in The Mentalist) isn't too ruffled by the legalities, so he wouldn't really be bothered about the boys being wanted by the FBI or something like that.

As for the spn_j2_bigbang, hmm, I would love the continuation to the story that you did the other time about deaged!Dean and powerless!Cas and other-name!Sam. I enjoyed that very much!!!!

[identity profile] de-nugis.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
So I just looked at your WIP and figured out that the soulless!Sam one is the one with radiation poisoning. Please count me as having voted for it five more times.

*is disturbingly avid for radiation poisoning*

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL

You slay me. :D

Yes, it's the radiation poisoning one. I think somewhere in my head it's morphing into a really twisted AU Sam-gets-his-soul-back fic.

I've always wanted to read a crossover with SPN and Lie to Me! Thought it would be interesting to have Dr. Lightman realize that Sam & Dean are NOT lying when it comes to the case they are on!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too! I want Lightman and Dean to face off across a table. Alas, I have never been able to come up with a convincing plot for myself. :(
bellatemple: (SPN - wide-eyed Bela)

[personal profile] bellatemple 2011-01-03 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm thinking of doing a fairy story for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang. We already did similar themes last year!

Ohhhhh, I really shouldn't sign up for the crossover big bang. I shouldn't. I really, really, really shouldn't.

Currrrrrrrses.

Well, I chose CSI, House, or Xena. With CSI, well I can never get over cops chasing after the boys, even though they're wrong fics...House, because I think it would be interesting to see one of the boys sick somehow and dealing with it, plus the House team would make things interesting(and I've only read one or two stories with this cross). As for Xena, well I couldn't think of another show. I don't watch TV much anymore. And that fic could involve some time travel, or reincarnation (which Xena has done a couple episodes of before). But whatever you write should be great!

[identity profile] primrose-1.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You made this hard because I really don't watch television other than Supernatural and Dr. Who. I DID like The Dollhouse, but thought that Joss took too long to build up the world and the plot to make it last, and gave us no characters that we could really root for. In the end, I'm not surprised it lasted 1 1/2 seasons, BUT it was smart, had an interesting and creepy concept, and could make an interesting story if ghosts and monsters were in there too.

I DON'T think you should do Buffy except that maybe Sam or Dean could take out Angel. As much as I love Buffy, I wouldn't mind seeing the boys take out Angel....other than that I couldn't think of any other reason why it would be my second choice. And CSI was because it was the only other show I had seen that I could think of. It's sad, I know.

I'm going to be writing it anyway, this is just to see which I end up writing for the Big Bang. :)

OMG J2. J2. J2!

Also, I chose TVD because I just marathoned all the episodes. It's really the only show in my headspace right now aside from SPN.
Edited 2011-01-04 00:03 (UTC)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
LOL

So far the J2 AU is last in the poll, alas. I'll still write the story, just not for the BB.

Also, I haven't watched TVD at all.

I'm a total newb to the 'BigBang' thingy, but I'd love to participate as an artist. I have NO good idea how it all works, except that you need to sign up in advance. Could you give me the quick-n-dirty about how it operates? And maybe links to some of your fave SPN BigBangs? (I watch very little television, so I limit my raging fan-girl-ism to SPN and Being Human, mostly.) If you don't have time, no worries! I'd appreciate any clue you could drop. Thanks!

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
No problem!

First off, check the mod posts at [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang. They have comprehensive instructions and FAQs and the like.

The quick 'n' dirty is this: artists and writers sign up starting on the same day. Writers then produce a fic of a minimum of 20,000 words. On a given date, writers submit their draft and a summary of their story. Summaries are then posted anonymously by the mods. Artists read through the summaries, find one they like, and claim it in the comments to that post. Artist sign-ups close the day before claims, IIRC. Artists and writers are then given a posting date, by which time the writer must have a finished, beta'd story, and artists must have finished their art (in whatever medium), and they both post on that same day.

Here's last year's sign-up posts, with rules:

Writers.

Artists. (This is relevant to your interests!)

And here's last year's FAQ.

Did that make sense?

As for my favourite Big Bangs... God. I don't even know where to begin. I'll try to get back to you on that when I'm not at work. Try [livejournal.com profile] spnstoryfinders, they're really quite good at recommendations. :)

[identity profile] ratherastory.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Never fear, I have a LOT of words to write this year, so there will be Fusion!

[identity profile] 4422shini.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Sons of Anarachy, if you don't know, is about a motor cycle gang that are actually organized crime that are arms dealers. It's pretty brutal and awesome, and a great thing to get mixed in with Sam and Dean.

I wrote Reboot as a second choice, but I just remembered The Walking Dead series, which is ridiculously good. That would make an awesome cross over with Supernatural.

Really, I love your writing, so anything you write, I will probably read. Hearts <3!!!!
