So now with the Dean/Cas Big Bang draft done and sent in, and my [livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love fic all written and ready to be posted on Monday, I just realized that I don't have another fic due for another three whole weeks!

This is exciting!

So of course now I feel like writing a whole bunch of other things. Which is silly, because starting in three weeks I have four fics due, one of which is another Big Bang (I know! I know!), although that one's not due for a month or so.

I swear to God, it's like crack. I can't leave it alone.

I'm also thinking of de-mothballing two old fics I wrote when I was just starting out in fandom. They're rough, but I have a soft spot for them because they're the first things I ever wrote in this fandom and they never got posted to my LJ. I think I should take ownership of them even if they're not as good as I'd like them to be. I'll probably post them tomorrow, maybe back-dated so I don't clutter up my flist.

..

The rest of this post is me talking to myself about dates and stuff. You can skip it if you'd like.

I have to update my list of ongoing works, and then get my ducks in a row, fic-wise. Apart from the challenge obligations, I have a handful of fics that I'd like to write or continue in the meantime.

So, challenges and dates are, in the order in which they're due:

[livejournal.com profile] summer_sam_love: episode tag to "The Rapture," due September 11th. No wordcount limits.

[livejournal.com profile] deancastiel: Secret Angels IV fic exchange, due September 17th. Minimum 2,000 words, and I already have the premise and a rough plot in mind.

[livejournal.com profile] werewolfbigbang: 10,000 words, due September 25th. Already begun, although I'm not sure I want to keep what I have.

[livejournal.com profile] kamikazeremix: 1,000 words minimum, due September 27th. Read the fic I'm remixing, pretty sure I know what I'm doing with it.

What I'd like to write also:

1- At least a couple more chapters of RiD. Ideally, maybe one new chapter a week. Maybe I should pick a day of the week on which it posts and just stick to once a week, so it's not feast-or-famine for my poor readers.

2- I have an idea for a crack!fic that won't leave me alone. It's mpreg. IDEK. I think I have to write it and get it out of my system.

3- [livejournal.com profile] roque_clasique has kindly given me a prompt for my "Silent Night" verse, and I'd like to write it as a celebration of her finding accommodations and starting school and all that.

4- I owe [livejournal.com profile] peppervl a fic. Waiting on a prompt.

5- There are a couple of prompts over at the comment-fic meme going on at [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time which have piqued my interest. One of them will be a quickie, but the other one may take a while.

So, yeah. Lots of projects, very little time. Story of my life! It's all good, really. The second list doesn't ALL have to get done right away. It's more of a wish list than anything else. :)

It occurs to me that I need to make myself a writing schedule.

Anyone know of good calendar software out there? Maybe some that comes with html coding?

I shouldn't read LJ during the wee hours of the morning.

I stumbled across a comment about Season 5, to the effect of the poster "missing" SPN, which she (I assume) hasn't watched lately. The end of the comment was "I miss not hating Sam."

...

I don't get it.

It's poor form to start a conversation at 5:00 am in someone else's LJ which has the potential to turn into a not-very-nice debate, so instead I'm going to vent here.

What show are people watching that they can hate either of the brothers? It's obviously not the same show I've been watching all year. Clearly they or I live in some parallel universe where the show is not the same.

Yes, everyone has made spectacularly shitty decisions: Sam, Dean (Castiel and Bobby and Ellen and Jo and... well, all of them at some point or another). But that's what being human is all about.

I hurt for these boys every time they show up. They're so screwed up and they're both trying so, so hard to make things right, and sometimes they try so hard that they go cross-eyed from being too close to the situation and they fuck things up even more. I yell at my TV, cry for them, cringe for them, and very often find myself clutching the nearest cat for comfort.

But never, not ONCE, not even when Sam was choking Dean, or when Dean was telling Sam that he'd never be able to forgive him, did I hate either of the boys.

All that happened was that I got my heart broken. And, as messed up as that is, that's why I love the show and keep coming back.

I don't get it.

It's [livejournal.com profile] ohsam's 6-month anniversary today, folks! Come join the fun!

Also, there's a comment-fic meme going on at [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time focusing on Dean. It's thanks to that comm that [livejournal.com profile] ohsam exists at all, so show them some love too!

Title: Not The Demons You're Looking For
Prompt: From [livejournal.com profile] mad_server for the [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time Dean-focused h/c challenge from last year. Toward the end of Season Two, the boys are swinging back through Andy's part of the world, and decide to check on him. Dean, superstressed over Sam possibly going darkside, has come down with the worst headcold ever, and is sneezing his face off (oh please oh please). Sam and Andy end up sort of awkwardly (or supersmoothly?) working together to subtly take care of him. Bonus points if Dean ends up feverish, overmedicated and in a set of Andy's PJs. Double bonus points for forehead feels and/or thermometer action. Original prompt is here
Summary: Another vision leads Sam and Dean back to Guthrie, Oklahoma. (See the prompt for basically the entire plot of this fic)
Disclaimer: Would that they were mine. I would spend all my time breaking them and putting them back together. Sort of like a really violent, gory version of dress-up dolls.
Warnings/Spoilers: I guess if you haven't seen Season 2, then you're in for a shock. I managed even to keep this swearing-free. Emetophobes will probably want to give certain chapters a miss.

Neurotic Author's Note # 1: Oh, man. I am almost embarrassed to be posting this. It's one of the very first things I wrote for this fandom, and I posted it in another forum and promptly never thought about it again. To say that it's rough would be putting it mildly (although it's not as rough as the actual first thing I wrote, which is surprisingly close in subject matter to this and which I'm still waffling about posting to this LJ). I was new to fandom, didn't have a complete handle on the boys, and... yeah. It was also written with a very specific target audience in mind. So.
Neurotic Author's Note # 2:The reason I posted this elsewhere is that someone else had already claimed the prompt, and I didn't want to step on their toes. I never saw it posted at [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time, though, although I might simply have missed it, so I feel safe enough posting it now, six months after the challenge is over. It could maybe be considered an orphan prompt? IDK. /o\
Neurotic Author's Note # 3: Longish fic is long. I'm unwilling to spam my flist with all twenty-odd chapters, so I'm back-dating all of them except the master post. Anyway, there's no obligation to read this thing, but I'm taking a page out of [livejournal.com profile] rainylemons' book and posting my older stuff and claiming ownership of the potential fail.
Neurotic Author's Note # 4: In spite of all the self-deprecating waffling I just posted, I must say I actually have a real soft spot for this story. I have a thing for sick!sneezy!Dean (and Sam too, but this story is about Dean) and Andy is one of my favourite characters ever. It's a little short on plot, but it's long on Sam and Andy both being pretty awesome with Dean, who is sick and cranky and trying to be all stoical-like. IDK, I like it in spite of its flaws. Extra props to [livejournal.com profile] mad_server, the queen of spelled-out sneezes. :)

Title: Rats
Summary/Prompt: Not surprisingly, from [livejournal.com profile] pkwench at the [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time Dean-focused h/c comment-fic meme. Dean and Sam investigate a haunting at an abandoned hospital and get separated. Dean's overcome by the ghost of a dead anesthesiologist and the spook slips him a paralytic that renders him fully unable to move, but leaves him fully conscious. He can't move, he can't yell for Sam, he can't even tell if he's still breathing. But he can feel and he can hear. And what he hears is the mad little scrabble of claws on old tile. Then they come, rats. Maybe just a dozen or so, but to him, unable to move in the darkness, it feels like hundreds of them, crawling over him, little tails sliding over his cheeks and his tongue, one of them right up in his face, the whiskers tickling him. And, maybe they start to gnaw a bit and he keeps trying to shout for Sam to move a finger or a hand to swat them away. But? He can't. Hope Sam gets there soon. Bet Dean does too.Original prompt and my reply can be found here.
Warnings/Spoilers: No spoilers. Swearing. RATS.
Wordcount: 1,183
Neurotic Author's Note #1: I just whipped this up in about half an hour. No beta, no revision, nothing. Just Dean getting chewed on by rats.
Neurotic Author's Note #2: I swore I would work on other things this weekend, but APPARENTLY I can't resist [livejournal.com profile] pkwench's prompts any better than before. So.
